I just joined today and am saying hello.
I'm a software developer from dublin and havent had a hifi system in over 10 years, my old NAD 304 stopped working and the local electrical shops couldn't find the problem so it hit the bin and it's broken-hearted comrades set up camp in my parents attic.

I'm now setting up a budget system based around my laptop, times have changed.
I'm looking at the beresford 7520 and I'm wondering would the difference be noticable on my modest system if I stumped up the extra cash for the caiman?

Also I was wondering about cabling from the laptop to DAC, i was thinking USB, should I look at getting a snazzy USB cable, is there such a thing?

I have a Vista laptop with music ranging from 128 - 320 kbps, a TK2050 from Hifimediy and an old pair of misson 73s.

Welcome to AOS

Can you add your location to your user details and make your first name your signature please. We like to use first names here on AOS.

What kind of music do you like ?

Re the Caiman yes I think even in a modest set up you will hear the difference. By having the better DAC you will also have a good foundation to upgrade with in the future.

Enjoy your time on the forum.
