My daughter has announced at short notice that she would like a Discman for her birthday at the end of next week. Does anyone have one or equivalent for sale? Retro cool apparently :)
Annoyingly, I sold a really nice early Technics one to someone on here (Alan I think) a year or two ago and I have no idea what I did with my old Discman.
You would need to be able to post it promptly or be near Oxfordshire please.

It even has AM! Are there even AM broadcasts any more? That was on its way out when I was a lad.

I still listen to Hawksbee and Jacobs in the afternoon on talkSPORT if I'm out and about.
Don't have digital in the car so it's the best way to tune in.

I mean, I could rig up my phone and stream it but if it's just a pootle here and there I can't be arsed.
If I was on a long drive it would be different ..

No, she already has a growing CD library, so it has to be CD I'm afraid!

Your better getting a new one for longevity but if it has to be old I'd go for this Technics SLXP5

Build quality on these was excellent.

I have an Alba PCD205/B Personal CD player. Round clam shell type. It has provision for AC adapter or batteries and will recharge rechargeable (type not specified) batteries. It has phones and line out sockets and Bass Boost switch.
(EDIT) I've just tested it and it works on AC adapter but not with batteries so I presume no interest?

Thanks but it would need to work with batteries as she wants to take it to school.

My brother had one of those and passed it on to me when it became unreliable.
Also it uses a separate battery pack of about the same size, I think of + and - 7.5V, not terribly portable.
