Looking forward to this release - I've pre-ordered it anyway, but has anyone got any thoughts?

http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/albums/the-orb-featuring-david-gilmour-metallic-spheres-album-r.html - the 2nd CD sounds very interesting from a technical point of view, hence going for the "Deluxe" version. Suspect it could go one of two ways - gimmick or genius... Guess I'll know in a couple of weeks!

Sounds interesting, and only £4.99 for the deluxe Cd at Play. I was about to order it when I realised that the release date means it delivery may be after I have moved so I will try to remember this thanks Alex.

But which is better?

Only one way to find out :fence: Fight......

Good spot - cheers Steve - must be an error, though - the standard 1 disc version is £8.95!

The good news (for me) is that the 2 CD deluxe version has just come through the letterbox from Play.com at £4.99 delivered. :)

The bad news for anyone else who didn't pre-order it is that the price has been corrected back to £11.99. :(

Will play it later and report back.

I just received this and it is only ok imo. Very repetitive on a few tracks except for some background noises. Wish I would have taken my friends advice and held off on a copy he would have burned for me.

Hi Mac, pretty much my view - only played it twice but it doesn't jump out at you as being brilliant. I think it might be a grower, though - one of those albums you think will be fine to put on as background music but actually needs a lot of volume and listening to carefully - which I'm yet to do - nor have I tried the 3D60 version, optimised for headphone use yet.

After three spins of both discs ...don't like it much.

I'm anxious to hear this, saw Floyd twice in '87, followed them for what seems like a very long time before and after, never tiring or too influenced by people's back-and-forth on them. I guess it's a love-hate thing. I really enjoyed Gilmour's recent efforts, suppose I will enjoy this just the same. He always pleases musically.
