Hi Folks,

let me introduce myself.
I'm 37, live in Macclesfield with my wife and I only really have 1 serious system:

Speakers: Audiovector Avantgarde,
Amps: NVA P90sa-->NVA TSS Mk2
Cables: NVA SSP inters + LS5 spk cbl
Source: NVA TFS (High Definition Media PC)

In March I designed and built my own 'audiophile' PC to be my main source, and after a digital bake off at NVA headquarters Richard asked me to build an uncompromising PC based digital source for NVA. Regarding music I like prog rock (Marillion was my first love as school); folk/acoustic/guitar (e.g. Dylan, Indigo Girls, BeGoodTanyas etc); I adored indie at uni (stone roses, smashing pumpkins, neds atomic dustbin etc), classical (especially piano and violin concertos and chamber music, and a little opera); and I've just started getting into jazz - which is what I want to explore more moving forward.

My current listening is Gwyneth Herbert, Kate Walsh, Newton Faulkner and the piano music of Gurdjieff and de Hartmann

I also play squash at club level and enjoy art and pottery (no I'm not joking) :)

Hi Theo. Good to see you on here too and thanks for your enthusiasm for the TFS :)
As for my fave prog rock record, any answer I give will open me up to a beating, but I will admit that I am a sucker for concept albums. I still love listening to The Wall and Misplaced Childhood. The first Led Zep album is also high up there for me.
How about your faves?

It's an Intel/Atom/ION based motherboard with a built-in Xonar Essence DAC + CD/DVD drive (Bluray in the near future). No fans or moving parts, and a very high quality regulated linear PSU. It also has wireless and bluetooth.
It runs Windows 7 pro and can be controlled in many ways: traditional remote control (IR, wireless or Blutooth), remote control through a laptop or tablet (including iPhone, Android, iPad etc), or even a touch screen monitor.
The player of choice for me is J. River Media Player using either WASAPI, ASIO or Kernel streaming and set to play each track from RAM to minimise any negative I/O effects.

The doubters who slagged off your attempt at a music server (elsewhere rather than here I think) didn't really understand that some of us are not totally secure with ordering our own bits blind and making something of our own... The rich ones buy a Naim solution and I'm hoping that you can do a reasonably priced option, at least telling us what to buy to incorporate it ouselves? I may have got it wrong in which case I humbly apologise.

I know you "live" on another forum a lot, but please drop by regularly, as we're not a bad bunch really (not even Marco, whom I've always found to be actually a humble and articulate man to speak to - honestly :)) and most of us get on well without argument ;)
