No cloud, next to no wind. Might become the best day of the year so far. But still a bit chilly, my morning coffee in the garden might have to wait a couple of hours.
Bright sunshine here already. But only 4C and windy.
Now 11C with bright sunshine. :)

14C here. So I took the bike out for an hour. Sun's warm enough, but that wind is back, and chillier than it looks.
I was up with the sparrows this morning, a very chilly 3c when I left home to travel to just outside Portsmouth but it has been wall-to-wall sunshine all day, traveling South and back. 17c I think at the height of the trip. Sadly most of it seen from the inside of a car, then a meeting room, and then the car again, but I'll take that as a win.

All day sunshine yesterday but with a chilly wind. Today's shaping up to be the same.
6C but supposed to get to 15C later. Wind is out of the east all week. I think that's why it's not as warm as it could be.
Next week to be colder but the clear skies and sunshine continue.

A bright 9c this morning
12C, cloudless blue sky and bright sunshine.
13C and blazing sun. Windy again though.
15c and sunny blue skies but quite breezy. Predicted to hit 20c tomorrow.
8C with a largely clear blue sky. A few wispy clouds and bright sunshine. Expected to reach 16C later in the day.
Some cloud here but supposed to clear in a while and then 18C
Forecast says will be sunny all next week too.

Now 19C, another belter of a day!
Got to 17C here but going down again now.
There's heat in the sun but doesn't feel so warm with 32mph easterly wind going. Been quite a few hazy clouds around too so not uninterrupted sun.
8C and very sunny, high of 15C predicted.
Strong east wind still with us though.
Got to 17C yesterday but went down to 3C overnight. Winter's grip still not totally gone yet.

According to BBC Weather it's currently 13C, but it doesn't feel like it.
Just had a scout round the gardens looking for a sheltered spot, a 'sun trap', where that shitty wind doesn't reach. I found just one place, but I'm not prepared to spend the afternoon staring at the back of the shed :( Can't wait for Monday, when these winds are forecast to die down.
Yes the wind is properly bitter here too.
Just been for a trip to the tip which is up on high ground and you really notice it there despite blazing sun.
Anyway got rid of most of the non-combustible crap from the back yard. Just need to have a fire now but that will have to wait until the wind stops.

Yeah, people don't like it when they've just hung their washing out.
I went a bit 'hilly' yesterday, that is to say I rode my bike as close to Parlick as the road allowed. It was a recce for a future walk, and I was looking at it thinking that's about as much as my level of fitness would stand, when I noticed three specks moving quickly across it. Fell runners! What's wrong with some people?
Yeah, people don't like it when they've just hung their washing out.
I'll go out there at 0600 and do it then, nobody round here is up at that time let alone hanging out washing. Plus with no wind the smoke will go straight up.

Sunny but the wind is strong and properly cold.
12C, think that's about as good as it will get today.
Spent the day watching car racing at Snetterton circuit - sunny all day with not a cloud in the sky but the stiff wind made it feel colder than the 13c high it was supposed to be.

Yeah I think it's been like that pretty much everywhere. Looks like the winds die down from tomorrow, and set to be good for the week. Perfect timing - I've got a work-free week ahead, so I'll be busy topping up me tan :)

Just got home to find a shitload of kids have descended on the house. So that's put a stop to my plans to chill in the garden. Going sea fishing at Morecambe tomorrow, that'll be a kid-free day :) A bit hazy here too, but I think it's warmer than yesterday.

We're only early April so you can't expect too much. But better to build up gradually through the spring than stop indoors then emerge for a day in July because your head will look like this :steam:

Fekkin fabulous Tuesday here in the Welsh Marches, had my jersey off and shades on for a few hours:)
Today’s exotic location was St Osyth in Essex, surveying the machinery at a couple of quarries. Very interesting, if you like that sort of thing (I loved my Tonka toys as a kid…) and made all the more pleasurable by 17c temperatures, blue skies and sun an barely a wisp of wind. My suit got very dusty though.

It was full sunshine in Morecambe for our fishing trip, but that chilly wind was back, and I kept my coat on. Didn't catch a single fish, but I reckon it was because Tyson Fury was sat on a nearby bench catching some sun and I reckon he scared the fish away.

Could be worse, you could be peeling. I was out in full sun from 9am till 2.30pm, and despite the chill wind my head does feel like it's glowing a bit.
Only got up to 13C here today, but at least the wind had lessened.

A bit nippy last night, frost on the car. Looks like it's going to be a good day, but I can see there's going to be a lot of work in the garden. I can't see a way of getting out of it, we have a ton bag of fancy stones on order and there's a lot of prep work ahead of it landing :( Still, be nice when it's done.

Well it was another fine day today. Reached 15C with a cloudless clear blue sky.
Chillier this morning so far,
4C, bright sunshine in a sky with a few wispy cirrus clouds.
Temperatures expected to be higher than yesterday.
Yesterday in Rome was around 20c with intermittent sunshine. Today expected to be 22c and clear. Not much different to home.

Spent the morning helping my mate (with the help of two others) to get a few hundred kilos of steelwork onto his roof, weather was perfect for that, and I got a week's worth of exercise condensed into two hours :)

We had to lift two 170kg steel beams (375lb in old money) onto his old extension roof and across onto next door's roof then back it into an opening on the side of the house. So that when internal walls are removed, the back of his house doesn't collapse. Because that would be bad :doh:
He does the calculations, I (and two others) just provided the muscle and the will to not damage stuff or fall off.
Anyway, back to the weather, which has just become very grey. I suspect the first rain in nearly a month will be here soon. And there was me thinking I might do a car boot visit in the morning :(

no rain here but might be some later. Sunshine days are over for the foreseeable future, but we had a good run, almost 8 weeks of it.

After a wet night , first rain this month, now dry and 7c
Now up to 16C. Sunny but cloudy with some rain expected around 16:00 hours.
Had a couple of bursts of sun here but short-lived.
No rain yet but they keep moving it further back in the forecast so they seem determined that it's going to happen.
Radar has it coming directly over us at about 1530 so we'll see. Will actually be a novelty to have some rain.

The rain hasn't materialised here, sun even made a brief appearance.
The rain that was forecast has arrived, but it's only fine rain - the sort that makes you think "it's not too bad, I don't need an umbrella" to pop down to the shops for something you need, get half way there and realise you are getting far wetter than you thought!
We've stayed dry here too - so much for the radar. Sky mostly clear now too.
Rain tomorrow is what they're saying.
At least the inconsistency is not restricted to the UK, the rain stayed away from Rome too, bar a few spits here and there during the day.

Blazing sun earlier, then went very dull, now back to blazing sun.
10C, supposed to rise to 12C, and it's windy. 50 percent chance of rain later, we'll see how that works out. We've not had a drop of it yet.

Been dark then sunny then dark here all day.
Thought I'd get soaked on my walk this morning as there were some black clouds massing on the horizon, but in the end no rain.

We got 12C too, and no sun. But at least the rain held off. Rain should be heading our way, but I don't need to leave the house till Thursday.
Had a few unscheduled sunny spells earlier but it's dull again now and Wednesday is supposed to be dull with rain off and on most of the day.
Have to go to the market tomorrow to get some cheap cheese but that's it. And it's only a few hundred yards away. Might skip the daily walk for once.
Last day in Rome and we dodged any rain, now a beautiful end to the day with blue sky and 19c.
Had a bit of rain about 11:00, but it didn't last long. Spent most of the afternoon shopping/window-shopping and the weather was fine; even sunny. Now home and the weather is looking threatening again.

I haven't been to one yet this year - I don't bother when the weather's dodgy as I expect many sellers will stay away, except for a few who don't care if their stuff gets a bit wet. I wouldn't be buying from them.

It was bloody cold at the boot sale; although the sun was shining the wind was sufficient to drop the apparent temperature several degrees. Brrrr!

No - it is my partner who is the keen boot sale fan, both as a buyer and as a seller; I'm just the driver.
Of course whilst I'm there I'll have a mooch about, but sad to say boot sales are not what they once were: there is a lot of overpriced tat for sale, especially from professional traders and those that specialise in house clearances.
I don't even look at CDs or vinyl. In the case of CDs, I already have about 3,500 of them, and the vinyl is either in poor condition or is expensive. Also I get fed up with those buyers who spend ages going through boxes of vinyl and consult their smartphone to check prices and/or rarity. I can't be bothered to wait around until they have finished. :eek:

They say Southport is so boring the tide went out and never came back.

I'm on the lookout for another storage tower. Bought another two CDs the other day - at a quid each you can't not, really. I don't know how many I have but I'd say there's at least another hundred albums I want.

Vis a vis CD's I have around 6,000 but they are going mouldy in the garage - all ripped to FLAC files and played that way for the past decade. Which is actually a bit sad, but it is just so much more convenient.

Jobs around the house are always harder, because you don't have the incentive of being paid. Gone a bit dark here, rain imminent I think. So the digging work won't be happening till tomorrow :carrot:

Went to Lidl as someone told me they have cheap steaks - which they do. Still balmy as I went inside.
Came out ten minutes later and sky was thunder black and the wind literally howling. Was spitting a bit when I got in the house and then...nothing. All passed over and it's sunny sky again.

Then later bring them all back. Still it puts back the garden digging work, so all in all musn't grumble. How on earth did I manage when working full time?

12c and light rain showers. Due to dry out this afternoon.
11C. The rain has stopped, but there is a chance it could resume.

That's because the cat automatically assumes you were doing it for her.
Like when you unpack some new kit and leave the box lying there while you set it up.
The cat is straight into it because it assumes its staff have brought it a new box and it would therefore be churlish not to have a kip in it.

You may not remember when you visited in February that there was a paper carrier bag at the side of the sofa that the cat liked to sleep in occasionally. It had been there since Christmas, and it's still there.

My cat was straight into the box my Sony rear projection TV came in, which was massive. Curled up at the bottom and was asleep in minutes. Didn't want to disturb him so had to watch new telly with the screen partly obscured by the box for a couple of hours until he emerged again wanting his tea.
Trust you will buy a new carrier bag for the cat this Christmas.

Just been round to the Sainsburys, really is very pleasant out there today.

Good luck at the boot sale! Sadly, these days I find boot sales utterly depressing - too many professional traders and house clearance specialists, and incestuous and avaricious record dealers.

Hopefully the weather is picking up 13c this morning
Despite it being 23C with brilliant sunshine, there is a persistent breeze which at times is strong enough for it to feel chilly.
Still, mustn't grumble.
This morning was dead calm but wind has got up a bit here too.
It's 20:10, still light and a comfortable 18C.
Wednesday is expected to be 25C, and Thursday 29 - 30C! Now that will be uncomfortable: I "shut down" when it reaches 30C, and am only interested in seeking shade and cold beer.
Our record here is 36C in July, a couple of years back. That wasn't comfortable even though it was a dry heat.
Mean daytime temperature for July here is 16C which is the warmest month of the year. Not spectacular.

15C already out there, going to be scorchio. Rest of the week quiet work-wise, perfect timing :) Managed to repair my ladders yesterday, saving myself a couple of hundred quid. So I've earned a bit of leisure time.

Climate data for Stoke is in the entry on Wikipedia (taken from nearest weather station which is Keele - which is some way out of town but there it is)
Chorley has an entry but no climate data - There is data for Preston:

You actually get more rain and fewer sunshine hours than Stoke, which is seemingly incredible :)

Lea Town's about four miles NW of Preston, and more or less at sea level (no hills round there). Westinghouse Springfields nuclear fuels place is there, but I don't suppose that has anything to do with anything.
20C here they are predicting 24C but I don't think we'll get there now.

Weather looks to be the same again this morning, blue sky and 13C already. Just been out in the garden for my posh coffee.
I noticed yesterday that there was a lot of wasp activity near our garden table/seats, and up with that I will not put. So I'll be off to B&Q later to get some wasp nest destroyer. It's not a job I'm looking forward to, I've done it before - it's a case of spray from 3 metres away then run away, because the wasps really don't like it.
There is no sign of them this morning though, must be having a lie in.
What is the point of wasps? Bees I get - they pollinate and produce honey. Never seen a wasp do anything apart from harass people.
Does anything even eat them? I've seen dogs try to eat them but I think that's just because dogs are a bit daft.
Today's target is 25C. We made it to 22C yesterday.
