FS: Jericho Horns

These are rather nice. I bought them to partner my (now defunct) OTL tube amps.

The horns were built by local enthusiast and fellow AoS member Will. They are very well put together and weigh a ton.

The finish is a paint effect - Will has done rather a good job of it IMO.

Very high sensitivity (about 97dB or more). No crossovers. The drive units are Fostex FF225K.

The speakers are about 46" tall, 15" wide, 19" deep.

Will used them with a pair of visaton horn tweeters (fantastic). He recommended I add a pair of Fostex FT17H horn tweeters. My amps went phut before I got round to acquiring these, but I used a pair of Audax tweeters instead (you can see the tweeter in the photo - I'll include them in the sale). They sounded fine with my valve amps but are rather too bright with my Marantz PM17. You may wish to experiment with some attenuation or simply go for the Fostex tweeters instead. The speakers sound fine without tweeters in place at all, though you will lose a bit of sparkle in the top end.

These are not the best looking speakers in the world, but if you have a low powered tube amp, these have your name on them (Will demonstrated these to me with a 2 watt homebrew amp, which sounded sublime and provided ample grunt).

A lot of love went into the building of thes speakers. You can find the plans online (google 'Jericho horns'). A few nice touches include extra internal bracing and a curved insert in the horn opening (as opposed to the flat, stepped one in the original plans).

There are a few chips in the paint finish, but they aren't bad and would touch up easily I suspect.

I have some leads for the tweeters (which include 1.5mf capacitors).

I can't post these, so either collection from Northumberland or delivery/meet up halfway by arrangement.

Happy to demonstrate if you are local and fancy bringing your amp with you.

I paid £200 for these (without tweeters) and would like to make that back again. I got a bargain and so will you.

I might consider some kind of deal against a pair of speakers more suited to my current amp.

Cheers

Martin

I've heard these speakers on a couple of occasions, and they sound mighty fine.

Simple - it's only a quick conversion job on one of the speakers!

Prolly enough wood in the Jerichos to make two - you could race the missus.

Go on, you know you want to. I'll pm you an offer you can't refuse.

I can picture it now: 'Dear horace, I'd love to buy your fabulous horns, but I live in Northumberland. Such a pity you've moved so far away - I would have been prepared to pay double your asking price for such stunning speakers'.

C'est la vie.

there's a guy on PFM curious about horn speakers - get yourself over there :) i reckon he'll bite for £150 if he lives within reasonable distance.

Wot, nobody interested in saving puppies?

Maybe I should widen the net and threaten the safety of kittens and fluffy bunnies.

Martin, are you going to Owston? You could try putting the speakers on Audio-Talk and see if anyone's interested.

Martin,

Are the speakers still available? And please excuse my ignorance, but with this particular driver setup, will these horns go deep and loud?

Thanks,

Reg

They are at least 96db they go very loud and deep...

They are very good horns a real bargain...

They have extra internal bracing to lower internal res's.

I have seen a pair priced at £2200.00..

Thanks everyone, but these are now sold.

Typical - no interest for weeks, then as soon as they sell I get enquiries galore. How does that work?
