Well me and Leam will be there, and no doubt Macca too. And I don't think Mike (JakHawk) has ever missed one. And there's still 6 months to persuade (nag) others to give it a go :)

I welcome the 'extra' NEBO this year BUT the date clashes with Shirley's birthday.
I would love to attend this one but my mind is in a real quandary.

That's a shame, but you have to do what feels right.

I suppose I could turn up in a kilt, but it wouldn't be the same :(

Hope I'm not out of order

Not a problem Mick, you're more than welcome to it :)

Not what you'd call 'high end', I'd originally bought it off Jerry (jandl) who used to post on here. But never got round to using it. Then I lost the power supply. But Alan Firebottle sent me one, so it's now usable again.

Same as this (but less tatty):

.
Looking forward to Nebo16.
Due to my Campervan conversion being a work in progress, I won't be able to bring much in my smallish car.
My system has been heard before, so it'll give other folks a chance of a go.
Could bring one or two bits.
I'm thinking, maybe my linear tracking DD TT and Pass phono stage?

Depends on the transport situation, it's a bit hard to carry a 40 kilo amplifier with me on the train ;)

I can barely lug it as far as the car.

If I can I'll bring it and the cables with the spade connections.

Was just going to bring the TT Steve. I can bring the Modwright phono stage and/or the Graaf pre if needed. I think someone's taking Neurochromes so no point bringing mine. Can't bring speakers as all my gear is in the attic and it was a major operation getting them up here and I don't think my back would stand doing it again. :-)

Before you go unplugging stuff Mart - I'll stick the speakers in the car this afternoon and let you know how we're fixed for space - the speakers really aren't giant, but the boot isn't very wide. If you have something chunky, like a spare quilt, we could maybe stack them on top.

Any interest in a pair of ESL57's.Hooked them up to try them for the first time since the Windmill NEBO and they sound good. They will be priced cheap, but I will not be bringing them unless there is interest .With the forecast of strong winds,I dont want a repeat of the last time I took them to NEBO ,when I was blown halfway across the road (The Windmill was an apt name for the venue)

Depends how short your legs are - you will be in that passenger seat, as the back seats will be folded flat :) I'm sure we'll find a way. I'm just waiting for an easing of the weather, so I don't go arse over tits carrying stuff to the car.

Would be interested in the attendees' response to these speakers and what amplifier is used to drive them.

For the the first (and only) Art of Sound get-together, I brought some Quad 510 monoblock amplifiers to drive some Quad 57 esl Alan had brought along. Whilst I did not hear the pairing as some of us were having lunch, the combination was well received by those that heard them.

Just as well, as that combination is what I use at home.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good and enjoyable time at NEBO. Looking forward to reading all about it. Don't forget to take plenty of photographs! :)

Mick got his ESLs going later in the evening, using Macca's Sony pre and Mick's own Radford something-or-other (sorry, don't know the model name, but it was 50-odd years old). Clarity and purity of sound are words that come to mind, and I was surprised to hear that it wasn't found wanting in the bass department. Just a lovely and realistic performance that you could listen to all day without fatigue. Makes me wonder just how far things have really moved along in the last half century, probably 10% genuine advances and 90% clever marketing! Just my two pennies worth :)

Barry

Quad ESL-57s driven by either a Radford STA15 or STA25 always were a good pairing. The only improvement might be to use a pair of Radford monoblock amplifiers: the MA15 or MA25, but they are rare: I don't think I have ever seen a pair for sale.

Thanks for the feedback. Now you will perhaps understand why I have lived with mine for fifty years, and keep a Radford STA15 Mk.III amplifier as 'back up'.

There was - At the end we had Mick's Radford STA15 and the Sony pre-amp going into his QUAD ESL 57s - but I forgot to take a picture of that.

The Zu speakers could have done with being closer to a wall to reinforce the bass a bit but otherwise they did pretty well.

So you did! I might have a listen, - I think it was it I liked hearing bits of. pm your address & I'll send it to you. The Temple Audio seem to be very tolerant of what they're connected to. A Pass Labs power amp only bettered them at 'too loud' volume into EPOS 14's. Not in any other scenario. I don't think the Primare power amp I have is any better than them.......

I have it Macca.
It was gathered up with cables which fed the ESL's and the mains lead for my Quad 306.
My apologies as I gathered the cables without looking as everybody had left

I can tell you what went on as much as I can recall. Bear in mind that due to the weather and the exciting strategies of the Highway Agency, we didn't get there until 1300.

Be tomorrow though now.
