View Full Version : Can we have an “Ignore thread” option please?
It would save me from having to see certain threads being bumped up on a regular basis.

Agreed there are a couple threads I would like to ignore
There are two course of actions currently available:
[1] No-one is compelled or obliged to read any or every post or thread on the Art of Sound, so if you see a thread running that you don’t like, then don't read it.
[2] Click on the "Rate This Thread", and give it a low rating.
1. I am aware of.
2. I have done, and it makes no difference.
Just ignore any thread you don't like the look of.
That is what I have been doing.

Yes this is something I'd like too
Without naming names, can you say what kind of posts are being bumped up on a regular basis?
If they are sales threads by our professional sellers, then that is a perk that has been paid for by the seller's fee.

It's not 'bumped up' threads that concern me it's certain threads that appear when I click 'New Posts' that I'd like to ignore. I'd expect an ignore button to prevent me from seeing ignored threads anywhere on the site, but also a facility whereby I could, if I wanted to, also unignore them.
How would an ignore button be selective? If there are any threads running you don't like, then just ignore them.
There is a more protracted option available. If you go to the top of any page and click on FAQ, you can find out how to put all current threads into individual 'wallets' which can then be marked to be either visible or hidden. Either marking can be reversed at any time.
I have to admit the entire process is not clear to me, but the option is there for you to use.

I usually, click on new posts , will have a look at most posts but there are a few I have avoided completed, for example anything relating to American politics.
I would suggest using “New Posts” to show everything you haven’t read - read the ones you want to see, then click “Mark Forums Read” and this will clear all the ones you didn’t look at as if you did.

That's about the best advice one could give! Well done Alex!
Why didn't I think of that? - especially as I have used it the past. Probably because being a Moderator, I feel it is my duty to look at every new post to make sure everyone is behaving themselves and no intervention is needed.
And of course that means reading all the posts in the thread that started this one!
