Roksan Attessa Turntable - any experience?

I'm looking for some new powered speakers for my study desktop, and following a bit of a move around, have room to add a turntable. I've spotted that Richer Sounds have the Roksan Attessa Turntable at £700 off (yes, £700!) at £399. https://www.richersounds.com/roksan-attessa-turntable-grey/ (Available in a choice of black, white or grey - the latter of which I think looks the nicest.) I figured it is probably pants, but actually the reviews I've read are pretty good, e.g. https://www.avforums.com/reviews/roksan-attessa-turntable-review.19350/.

Seems quite a bargain, especially for a study system where it is mainly going to be there for me to try and get more out of my record collection, which is pretty much neglected these days, and not for out and out sound quality.

Does anyone have any experience of said turntable?

Looks like quite a bargain Alex, but there must be a reason for their discounting it so heavily. My theory is that prospective buyers were spoiled for choice in the 400 quid price range, and no way were they going to chuck a grand at a fairly unknown product. So no one bought them and Richers found themselves with a huge pile of unsold decks and decided to cut their losses.

It does look better than all the other decks with built-in phono stage though imo. I don't think at £400 you can go far wrong. Personally I reckon the white looks coolest :)

Trawling through google, as you do, quite a few people appear to have had issues setting them up (probably inexperience) and a few have had “wobbly” platters, so as you say, with the market flooded with turntables these days there are plenty of other options at £1,100, more chance of shifting them at £400. I would want to have a listen first, but certainly worth considering I think.

If you can stretch to a grand you can have the Lamborghini SL1210. That's probably a bigger bargain than the Roksan, might even appreciate over the years.

I know, it's crazy - I knew there was a resurgence in vinyl, but I had no idea so many decks are out there!


If you can stretch to a grand you can have the Lamborghini SL1210. That's probably a bigger bargain than the Roksan, might even appreciate over the years.

Would have to be the orange one! In reality, I should probably just use the Planar 3 in the garage or the Pro-ject RPM4 that is gathering dust in the spare room...

I think Alex might have wanted something with built-in phono as space was at a premium. But there is the SL 1500C which is £799 at Richers.

I reckon manufacturers and dealers might have over estimated the demand for record decks - even though vinyl sales are still on the increase, they may be mostly bought by folk who are already sorted for a t/t.

Actually, the speakers I'm getting already have an inbuilt phono stage, and I wasn't planning on buying a new turntable... And I probably won't for a while, I was just intrigued by the Roksan, especially at the price!

They had the orange one on display in the Technics room at last years NW show. I think the green one has something going for it too though.

Apologies I just saw this. I have a flat supplied by my company and I started a second system there just so I had some music. And I try and occupy my evenings. I wanted to keep it simple so got an Attessa as it has the inbuilt phono and comes with the cartridge. So what's it like, I think sound wise for the money it is very good. And at £300 which is what I paid for mine a no brainer. The set up is actually ok pretty straight forward. I have no evidence of the platter wobble reported . My only thing is that I find the arm an unusual design and that it doesn't really lock well into the "holder" whatever its called. My arm lift isn't the best but I tend to use the lift. However all said its still a bargain and produces some nice sounds, and I want lose much when I move on. Looking at a Rega , and I have owned 3 over my lifetime I have never been a fan and I would have needed a phono. I did look at one of the project TT if I remeber rightly . So if your needs are similar to mine highly recommended

I am contemplating a new laptop so expenditure may be limited for a while and will try a spare turntable in the office before deciding.
