I agree, Dave, 21st December is a milestone to be celebrated! We’re now edging towards brighter days and for me, the winter solstice is when I accept Christmas is here and start celebrating. I even had Christmas music on for most of the day. Happy festivities to you all, hope Santa’s sack is bulging for you.

It did seem like a very short day but I didn't wake up until 0930 so I missed an hour of the limited daylight availability.

It varies with latitude but tomorrow actually has a minute less daylight here as sunrise is 1 minute later, and sunset time is the same as today. On Monday the sun sets 1 minute later, and then we're off and running!

Yes I'd agree with that. I'm surprised to learn its original release was 1987, it seems to have been around forever.

Dave, if you look on Wikipedia, the whole censorship thing with that song has gone on for years, and it appears that Shane MacGowan was much less bothered about it than we are, which surprised me. I would have expected his reaction to have a lot more four letter words than it did.

Wasn't aware of all that but I listened without luck to hear it on the radio last year. Coincided with the sacking of the old time DJs on the BBC and the policy of not playing 60s music.

Some staff at the office insisted on having Christmas music on last week, so that's what we've been listening to.

Trouble is there isn't enough Christmas songs so over 9 hours you get to hear the same ones over and over.

I’ve been listening to Heart Christmas today, and you’re definitely correct on the repetition, but the version of Fairy Tale in New York was definitely a “softer” version with Kirsty singing “You’re cheap and you’re haggard” instead of the one that ends in that “f” word which we are apparently not allowed to hear…
