Marantz SA12-SE price.

Morning all.
As the football's cancelled I've been hifi window shopping and seen the above is being very heavily discounted at the mo.
Marantz is a brand that seems to be well respected, though I have no experience of them, so wondering if anyone's heard one and if there's any ideas on why the bargain pricing (if that's what it is).

Totally competent player with good build quality. I'd guess the £1.5K discounts are due to them either being discontinued soon, or they just can't shift them at three grand. Seems to me that these days people either want bargain basement or stupid priced equipment, anything in the middle of those two doesn't sell that well.

I've got to admit I'm slightly tempted what with the age of my ML390 but your Teac has been on my radar for many months now as a replacement.
That'd be an interesting bake off, 701 v SA12 I'd guess and now a similar price.

Well you get a DAC with the SA12 ;) - have to say from experience the difference would be marginal to non-existent. I'd get the one you like the look of the most - unless you need to play non-hybrid SACDs.
