5V battery powered phono stage question

Despite having owned it from launch and having almost sold it or thrown it away, I have just discovered the truly astounding impact of connecting my Google Chromecast to a 5V battery pack!
My Goldring m/m has gone into my NAIM HiCap/72 (both heavily modded):scratch: for a couple of decades... have I missed a trick with a DC battery phono stage???

Have you tried the Chromecast with a linear PSU?
If so, you might realise a good phono stage with a linear PSU is also acceptable.

Do you have the battery pack plugged into the mains to charge up at the same time as powering the Chromecast? Or do you let the battery pack run the Chromecast and run down before charging the battery pack up agaiin?

I let it run down and recharge. Some people put on an overnight timer...
