This cost me £65 delivered. I've used it once! Now for sale as it's surplus to requirements. I'm asking £35 delivered.

It's immaculate with no scratches. Check out the pics! No pictures for the side panels but there are in PERFECT condition.

Good price for a passive pre in a nice box. I believe these are 10K impedance.

I might be interested in this. How is the balanced circuit achieved as the innards of the unit don't show how this is achieved.

Honestly no idea, but for £35 you could very easily sell it on. The unit has never (and will not be) opened.

I wasn't expecting you to open it. Having said that the innards didn't give any clue I must have seen a picture of them. If there is no information provided with the product then so be it.

The balanced XLR inputs are connected to the balanced line XLR outputs via a 10kOhm Alps four section potentiometer. That is, one section for each of the 'hot' and 'cold' signal paths for each of the channels.
I assume the "XLR/phono" switches for the input and output connect the respective terminals of two of the pot's sections to either pin 2 of the XLRs, or to the inner contact of the RCA phono sockets. I don't know what happens to the 'cold' (pin 3) on switching. Again, I assume the grounding is left unchanged on switching.

What this boils down to is that if an RCA phono input is selected, it will not appear as a balanced output if XLR output is selected, whereas a signal input to the XLR socket can appear as an unbalanced output at the output phono socket if the output switch is set to 'phono'.

Hi Andrew, I will take this please. Given the amount of room inside the unit it might be possible to add some active circuitry if neccessary. I have several DIY active converters but none with a volume control.
