I love Chopin, but I'd like some excellent vinyl recordings if possible, especially the Nocturnes. I've seen several on Amazon but I'm quite a novice on the subject and would like some help! :)

Discogs.

Just set some filters, read some reviews and take a punt : it's not expensive and you can always re-sell afterwards if you're not happy or you find something better.

Do you want the complete set of nocturnes? I don't think you will go wrong with recordings by Arthur Rubinstein.

I actually bought an early DECCA mono set spread over 2 volumes. It's not reference level as such but will work as a reference of sorts. It will be very easy to gauge which recordings are better/worse. I'm no expert on piano playing, my only gauge is how it emotionally attached I get to the recording.

I bought this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135111583804 maybe 50 years ago and it has conditioned my nocturne responses ever since! (Not necessarily a recommendation…)

Actually, if you wanted to borrow it for a few days, I’m local to you…

Wow, another member from Wakefield! I also bought this one as well from a charity shop in Pontefract of all places for £5.
