Too early to say, but forecast to be fine but cold.
11C and cloudy. All in all a pretty dull day, but at least it's not raining.

12C and cloudy. Hope the weather is a little more cheerful-looking than it was yesterday.
13c and wet, although according to the forecast it should dry out soon and a good few days of settled dry weather.

Got up this morning and began to get ready for work then remembered it's Saturday and I'm not back in until Tuesday. :doh:

Nice when that happens. Not so nice was the one time I drove the ten miles to work only to find the place all locked up as it was Spring bank :doh: It took years for my workmates to let that one go.

I walked into the office one time and my manager says 'What are you doing in? You booked the day off.'
Which was a pleasant surprise except I'd just spent £8 on a taxi to get in and now had a 7 mile walk home.

Chorley Riviera, what you like, you :) More like Chorley Canaliera. Just looked on BBC Weather, and Chorley is only showing part sun/part cloud on Tues, Wed and Thurs. Just as well as I will be spending those three days hanging off a ladder (don't tell Anita). While Stoke is showing mist then fog then drizzle on those same days.

Seems pleasant enough so far - probably 9 degrees now, with a potential high of 13 later, and no rain. Weak shadows right now, but maybe potential for sun later.
Dull again. Still giving out dull all week but the temperature is holding up with highs of 13 and 14
Last year we were down at 5-8 max by early October, which made for a long winter.
The weather here seems to be stuck at 12C, cloudy and dull.
Forecast to be foggy on Tuesday, which will make for a bit of a change.
I like a bit of foggy, heavier the better.

Roll on 29th March and the return of BST, it's only another 116 days away.
Notice it's typical that because of where the last Saturday of October fell, the clocks went back almost a week earlier than they could have done - but do we get that back on the flip side? Do we ****.

I could feel the difference when I let the cat out at 5.30am. Feels like November now.
Off to Arnside at the top of Morecambe Bay with me lad later, to try and catch some flounder for tea. Finally going to make use of all the kit Anita bought me 15 birthdays ago. I'll make sure I'm wearing some extra layers because I feel the cold more these days in spite of the blubber :(

The local BBC weather forecast stated that we have now had 14 days without Sun and there are a few more days before we get any.
This year must be the pits for cloud, rain and low temps.

It has been a milder autumn than normal here, but that ended last week.
Properly cold today.
I remarked on it to the woman in the corner shop who replied, 'It's not that cold!' despite the fact that she was wearing a thick coat, a scarf, and a woolly hat. Indoors!
Still promising a bit of sunshine on Monday and Tuesday here but then back to the gloom.

Yes, what has happened to the rain? It was raining almost every day in the summer. Think we must have had a week now since it rained here, which is almost unprecedented.
Usually it starts when I'm walking to work, stops when I get there, then starts again on the walk home.

Quite strange really, when we drove up to Arnside South Cumbria on Friday, we experienced about 20 minutes of total blue sky and sun - all I can think is the altitude put us above the gloom :scratch:
Despite the BBC still insisting it’s sunny intervals for the rest of the day the sun most definitely has not put his hat on so far. Not quite so cold though, 10c and still dry.
Still no sign of the sun that was promised.
Although the Met Office is showing that 'sun peeking out from behind a cloud' symbol for this area right now, I can assure them that it isn't doing any peeking at all.
Maybe it will appear in a bit. Does seem to be getting a little brighter as the morning goes on.
Sun is now out. Of course it's only 2 hours to dusk so the benefit is a bit limited but forecasters get a partial pass.
First time we've had blue skies in about three weeks.

At last, some Sun.
I woke this morning and the Sun was shining, immediately I felt better than I have for weeks. Did a couple of hours gardening this afternoon, which I haven't done for weeks and feel the benefit already.

I really need to work out a way of retiring to Florida.
On the American forums they're always complaining about the hurricanes but when you offer to swap locations with them funnily enough there's no interest.

Tried that a few years ago. Bought a house in Sarasota but it ain't easy and we never made it.
Quite glad now as my health issues would have bankrupted me within a year and seeing how Sarasota suffered during the recent storm.

The nearest one's a bit of a trek from me, though, and when you go in the owner follows you around.
I suppose they would just drive to it, and leave the engine running while they're inside shopping.
I mean there's no hurricanes or 20 foot storm surges, you'd think that alone would sell it to them.
No problem with alligators in the swimming pool either. Of course there is no swimming pool, but in principle it's one less thing for them to worry about.

Not so easy now to move to Spain or the Canaries after Brexit, and we looked at moving the States a few years ago but the £ was a longer stronger against the $ then, different ball game now.

Following that logic, chances are all your neighbours will then be Trump supporters. Whatever you might think of Trump, the folk who voted him in will be a lot worse.

Was really foggy at tea time, and I got lost trying to leave Southport for home. So I conceded defeat and pulled over to select 'home' on my satnav. The people at satnav central must have been pissing themselves as they led me on the longest possible round-the-houses route home.
I would send them a snotty letter, but thing is these satnav folk have the power to be wherever they want to be and could easily evade my letters. And Anita isn't helping, she just says I'm mental :(

Well it didn't. It was miserable drizzly weather all day, and it was so fine it got everywhere.

We had that really fine rain this morning too, wasn't so much coming down as just hanging in the air.
No sun at all today but the moon was pretty impressive last night. It's fields next to where I work so there's not so much light pollution. You could make out all the craters and that.
Winter is going to tighten its death grip from tomorrow, temperature down to zero with a chance of snow.
You'd think along with that we'll at least get some of those still, crisp, sunny winter days, but no. Dull, dull, dull and winds approaching gale force.
Not good to get this crap so early in the season, doesn't bode well for Jan and Feb.

Tomorrow will be the last outdoor-work day for the foreseeable, so might just dodge the worst of the shit weather. Though Thursday will see me removing glass from our lounge window to allow access of new sofa and chair, and removing the old stuff, so a dry day would be handy there. Bloody electric recliners which weigh a ton, so I'll be sure to have me Weetabix first.
I'm off work tomorrow so will need to spend the day rigging the house for winter weather.
Once the temperature goes below 4C it ceases to work effectively as a viable form of shelter.
We've got a week of that at least, no end in sight right now.

Why can't the BBC get the weather even slightly correct ? The 'guess' they made for today was clear skies and 9c all day today. The temp was sort of correct but the sky has been blanketed by thick black clouds since 0900. Not even a hint of sun and we have had lights on since brekkie. Now it's raining.

I just had to close the curtains and put the light on as I can't see across the room and it's not even 1600 yet.
Sun was out for about 20 minutes this morning so the forecast not totally wrong but close.

Two Christmases ago Anita got me one of these. You wouldn't want to be seen out and about in it, I wouldn't even wear it for putting the bins out. But really warm, with a big pouch to keep your hands in. So good I got one for a mate's birthday last winter and he wore it to death.

Don’t worry about the Dahlias - mine have been in for over five years now, a couple of inches of mulch and they have survived winters :)

Had about an inch of snow overnight.
Forecast says this carries on until Saturday afternoon when it's back up to 10C - but gale force winds.
Just above freezing but frost forecast overnight. 5 hour round trip in the car tomorrow, which would be fine if the heater fan hadn’t just packed up…. Still, it is supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so at least it won’t look as cold as I’ll feel…

Not too bad if it's just the fan - keep the vents open and then clog it. The faster you go the more it'll blow :)
Use a hair drier on a long extension chord to heat the inside of the car before you set off.
You can burn the hair drier out doing this but don't worry, it's not yours.

We've had about 20 different varieties and they have survived for around 5 years, as your's have. I always give them a thick coat of mulch but it's difficult when they are 3 ft high as they are now. Most of them look OK now but it's when they thaw out that they look sick.
I'm hoping the frost isn't so bad today but the breeze cuts right through.

Sounds like a perfect day Barry :) Only about 18C here (Anita's such a tight wad). At least it'll be warmer in the car-I have to be out of the house in about an hour.
Why does sofa-buying have to be so difficult? Six weeks ago we ordered new recliner chair and sofa, and paid deposit. Earlier this week Anita got an email saying the sofa would arrive this Friday but first we must pay the balance. So Anita contacted them to do so, only to find that they won't be delivered on Friday, they haven't even left the factory yet. So she emailed the originator of the original email, who insisted they were correct and so Anita paid the balance. Today she gets another email informing us that unless we pay the balance today the items will not be delivered :doh:
Think she's sorted it now.
So now we're going to Anita's son's flat in Wigan to remove his old suite and take to the tip. Then tomorrow after taking our lounge window out and removing our old suite, we take delivery of the new stuff, replace the window, then trek back to Wigan to give her son our old stuff.
Be simpler and cheaper to get used to sitting on the floor.

Had mine 23 years and it was five years old when I got it. Never been much for spending money on furniture.

I wasn’t expecting to wake up to snow, as there was none in the forecast, yet here we are in a winter wonderland. Ok, over egging it a bit, but a good centimetre or so and the drive is covered. As were the cars, but all brushed off now.
Lovely and sunny and crisp, but if I can trust the BBC Weather app again, that’s the last we’ll see of the wintry conditions for at least two weeks, with a heady 15c predicted for Sunday. Best brush the snow off the BBQ.
Now 3C. Where is all this snow that people are reporting? We have seen none of it, just frost.

We had a pretty heavy snow shower in Wigan yesterday, but it only lasted a few minutes, and it was that type that's somewhere between snow and mini-hail, that looks like tiny polystyrene balls. Resembling the fake snow they used to have in films. Half an hour later it was all gone and the roads were just wet.

Nice n sunny n bitterly cold. Tomorrow onwards it's supposed to be much warmer but with heavy rain and destructive winds.
We didn't get the snow, only a dusting on the higher ground.
Starts warming up from 0800 tomorrow 4C to 12C in four hours. Heavy rain and gales too, but that's better than living in the bloody arctic.

It will be some consolation to the bloke with a fallen tree on his car that he can now turn his heating down a couple of notches. This weather just moves from one type of crap to another. 20C with next to no wind and occasional overnight rain - it's not too much to ask is it?

Exactly the same as here. I've been driving on the M6 in that this morning, not good. Car booked for new tyres all round this afternoon, so that's one less worry.
Looks horrendous out and I really need to go round to the supermarket. I've got a steak for lunch but nothing to go with it.

I find soup just does nothing. Quicker to just make a cup of tea.
I had the steak on its own. It was a thin little thing but I just fried it in butter, 30 seconds on each side, and it was outstanding. I could have ate three or four of them. It was from Aldi.

I don't mind soup, it's my workday lunch staple in winter. With buttered crusty baguette to dip in it. Tomato soup is my least favourite. Not lumpy enough. But steak is just too lumpy for the flask.
You need a lunch pail. With Chewbacca and Han Solo on it.
I love soup: tomato; ham and green pea; mulligatawny; vichyssoise, or oxtail. And Steve you are right, it must be consumed with a nice crispy (and preferably warm) baguette.
Wet and windy all day, miserable. Managed to avoid going out except to the bins in the garden.
Broccoli and Stilton probably my favourite tinned soup, although Tesco do a warmly spiced Tuscan inspired bean soup which is lovely, and perfect for a chilly day.

Similar here, but the wind has gone away for now. Anita got out yesterday to get some new tyres on the car, and I had a one hour trip to Preston, but otherwise we haven't left the house since Thursday thanks to Friday's sofa non-delivery. Thank you SCS, you shitbags :(

We’ve still got the wind, just had a power cut but they sorted in a couple of hours which is excellent work. 17c and dry, looks like things will hopefully settle down tomorrow.

Fairly mild here too with next to no wind or rain since this morning. That won't last.
It's been blowy here today. At times the gusts were alarming - I was expecting to see some damage, but apart from a lot of leaves covering the lawns, there was none.
I'm hoping tomorrow will be a bit more settled.

Much calmer this morning, and there's been no rain since yesterday. Might get out there later to clear all the leaves off the garden now that the trees have dropped them all. Crappy job, but at least it'll get me outdoors for a bit.

11C with hazy sunshine. At least the wind has stopped and no real damage seems to have happened here.

Got long weekends every week coming except last week before Xmas. Then off all of Xmas week.

Been sunny here too and not too cold. Daylight only about 8 hours now though so even if it is sunny you don't get much of it.
Had to put the light on at 1630 soon it will be 1600.

I too had a couple of hours in the garden, though clearing wet leaves off a sodden lawn was never on my bucket list. First World problems I suppose.
Tomorrow may be even less fun - after last Thursday's sofa non-delivery (waited in all day for it), SCS now inform us that it will arrive tomorrow between 7am and 12 noon. Looks like I may struggle to get any warm bodies to help with removing the lounge window this time, So I'll be sure to have me Weetabix :)
They'd better not rock up first thing, the thought of taking out 2 metres of glass in the dark is filling me with dread a bit.

I have no answers. Depending what time they get here they might get a brew. But I will be telling them there's no Jaffa Cakes - I got some last week but I ended up eating them myself when they failed to turn up. That'll teach 'em.

A cloudy 11c so far but dry at the moment
Been raining here for hours and now I have to go out.
Light rain but not too cold at 11c. Need to chav up the outside of the house with Christmas lights so looks like that will be a soggy affair.
