I couldn't find the old boot sale thread, so...
This morning's boot sale purchases, CDs at a quid each.

I got these in the first ten minutes, but then it started spitting, so I thought that'll do me for today :)
Good "haul" there Steve.
On Saturday I picked up a mint (still sealed) Rolling Stones CD for a £1 and a Ry Cooder CD for 50p.
My partner says I'm not to buy any more CDs as I have enough (read "too many") as it is. She does have a point.

:eek: What a coincidence! I got the exact same "lecture" from Anita when I returned. She said I should start at the beginning and work my way through alphabetically, and any I feel the need to "pass by" should be chucked out.
It's an argument I know I'll never win - I could mention all the toys that have taken up residence in my music/dining room and how the granddaughter has grown out of most of them, but she can then remind me that 6 weeks ago we gained another granddaughter who will now get to play with them. So this is my life now, railing against the onward march of Barbies and Peppa pigs :(
For my part I have already started a 'one out one in' policy for the CDs, as I have no intention of adding to the existing shelving. I have only about 600 CDs, but that I feel is more than enough if they are carefully chosen on a 'likely to ever get played' basis.
The ones I have removed so far are too embarrassing to be mentioned on here. Sod it, I will do - Beverly Knight or Kings of Leon anyone? No I thought not.

I've got that first Kings Of Leon album too. Think I've played it twice, the second time just to check that it is as crap as I thought it was the first time.
At least nowadays you can check out other people's dodgy reccos on Youtube instead of sticking a tenner down the grid.
Think I could probably find 20 or 30 I will never play again. Not enough to be worth clearing out.
I don't think I have a single CD by either Beverly Knight or the Kings of Leon. What amuses me is the number of copies of a CD by (Spice Girl) Mel C, I keep seeing in charity shops; I think I have come across one or two copies in every charity shop I have visited!
I'm in the process of re-cataloguing and housing my CD collection. It's slow progress: so far I have reached "O" in the pop an rock section. There is still the rest of the alphabet to file, then there are a few hundred CDs in the 'Classical', 'Jazz' and 'Blues' genres to file. At the end I expect the library to encompass at least 2,500 CDs.
Then there are the vinyl LPs to go through!

I'm not sure how the first Kings of Leon CD found its way onto my shelves, but I know my brother bought me the second one for Christmas. No way did I ask for it - I think he must have though "Hmm Steve likes Rock music, this looks like Rock, he's bound to like it". Like buying a Mantovani record for a classical music buff.
Kings of Leon, the Mantovani of rock, 2 CDs, free to a good home.
Another terrible one I got egged on to buy is 'Songs For The Deaf' by Queens Of The Stoneage.
And going back further P J Harvey 'Rid Of Me.' Got that on vinyl when it came out. Gave it away which was daft as they are going for around £80 now.

My copy is on CD, as is all of her other stuff I have (and all picked up in charity shops).

That would be 'Northern Star' then. I'm sure Macca will be heartened to learn that if his copy ever suffers damage or gets nicked there are plenty of available replacements :) But when it comes to boot sales I think Robbie Williams is still way out in front.

I have that one as well. For some reason I do like P. J. Harvey, don't know why - maybe it's because she is different and not "run of the mill".

Yes, she certainly isn't run of the mill, and I really want to like her music, but somehow just can't connect with it. My problem not hers.

I've seen her live, in about 1992, before she was famous.
I only know that because my mate's girlfriend is positive I was there. I've absolutely no recollection of it.
