DAC Mains lead question

Hi folks,

I have had this little DAC for some years, never used it, but now I'm thinking of seeing if I can get music from my telly to my stereo via optical and this. Only problem is, I've lost the power lead that came with it.

I can see that the input is 9v DC, but is that all I need to know? Does the bit that plugs into the unit come in different sizes? If I use a lead that's rated higher or lower than 9V will somerhing bad happen? If buying a lead online for it I don't get to 'try before you buy', and I really don't want to spend any more than I need to for something I may not end up using.

Any advice/info would be appreciated.

Power supplies are available with a selector switch for different voltages and a selecion of different sized fttings

p.s if you still have the instruction manual,or maybe on the bottom of the unit,you may find out what the current reqirements for it are.You can exceed the current rating but keep to the voltage rating.Saying that some might have on a safe voltage range for use

Have a look on Amazon/eBay for “universal PSU” and buy one that takes your fancy.

From the photo it looks like you need an adapter with a 5.5mm (outer) and a 2.5mm (inner).

There are loads of adapters available with 5.5/2.1 plugs on but I don't think that will fit. I think a lot are designed for guitar effects pedals and I'm guessing that the 'standard' for those is 5.5/2.1.

Also have to watch the polarity, you need outer negative and inner positive.

None of those adapters will fit, I think you need 5.5/2.5 mm

Still looking.How can you tell just from that picture? Is it the thickness of the inner pin you're looking at?

How do you know that Alan isn't moonlighting as a proctologist? :DCoincidentally I was diagnosed with proctitis a few weeks ago it was all cleared up quickly with a bit of medication but it wasn't much fun for a while before that. I didn't see Alan about it though.
