FS: Croft Vitale SC - Highly upgraded to use 6SN7's and Balanced/Unbalanced inputs and outputs

Hi all.


For sale is my custom Croft Vitale SC preamplifier upgraded to use 6SN7 valves on the output and to utilise Balanced inputs and outputs as well as the original unbalanced inputs and outputs by Alan Kendal (Firebottle).


All of the components used are of excellent quality, for instance, the single (balanced) stereo control is by EIZZ and the selector switches are by Blore Edwards. In addition, all of the inputs are wired with flat ribbon silver cable in PTFE.


The valve compliment is:
x1 ECC83
x1 5751
x1 ECC81
3x 6SN7


It also has a clever gain adjustment to allow a better match between, for example, CD and Phono.


The Vitale is still a Croft at heart. Its still as Glenn made it and Alan did a marvelous job in simply adding my request for the Octal valve buffer and balanced I/O. And as we know, Alan really knows his stuff and valves are his specialty.

The sound from this preamplifier is simply stunning. It has a lovely sound, full bodied and effervesant in character. It still has that renowned Croft feel but with added soul which the 6SN7s bring.

It's a reluctant sale as I do love the design of this. It's a really nice looking unit and it acts as a nice reminder of Mr. Croft himself who I got to know quite well with my other upgraded preamps.

This is a unique bit of kit, guys. A true one-off. Highly flexible and extremely well built.

Utilising both single ended and balanced inputs and outputs, it's one hell of a beautiful sounding preamp and needs to go to a good home.

Open to offers but well worth the asking price as a lot of professional time and effort has gone into this.

...and there's still plenty of scope for more upgrades.

It certainly is. Its a monster of a preamp, to which will knock the socks off many costing much, much more.

Excellently and sympathetically modified with care.

I'm quite surprised it's still here.

I've had it running over the past few days and it just makes you grin. Fabulous sound.

Its no skin off my nose if it doesn't sell, but it's just that it's not going to get used as much now I've moved over to a new system. So I'd like it to go to a new home
