18C at the moment and expected to rise to 24C later (not quite as high as yesterday's 28C). Maybe there will be some rain this afternoon.

27C - did rain this morning but that stopped as soon as I got to work - impeccable timing as usual.
Then it's been blazing sunshine since about 1030
26C here at the moment. Cut the grass before it got too hot, then spent the afternoon doing nothing except for playing a few "choons".

That's nice. I had to do training this afternoon which is usually a good excuse to sit somewhere near the back and have a bit of a doze. Regrettably this time I had to give the training. Retirement is looking good again.
Around this time of the evening is the only time I will sit in the sun, as it is too strong for me earlier in the day.
Currently 21c which is just about perfect, hardly a breeze and no clouds at all. A nice Cruzcampo beer from the fridge- a new one on me, Spanish, and on offer in Tesco so thought why not.

Yorkshire tea bags of course :) You're one of the few people I know can make a decent brew - with most folk I don't chance it, have coffee instead... I was going to have an indoors day, but Anita has garden plans, so a trip to B&Q is on the horizon.

Anita's garden plans have changed (with a little gentle steering from me), and the revised project means I'll need to borrow a lump hammer and bolster chisel. That'll put the job off till Monday, which is nice :)

Oh yes, all the best jobs involve hitting it with a hammer at some point.
It looks my lazy day hopes have been dashed - turns out Anita's lad has the required tools, so it's looking like a drive out to Wigan, and visit a garden centre over there too. Just when my arse had made a nice comfy shape in the sofa cushions :(

It’s cheered up now, 21c and sunny spells when the clouds get out of the way. Constant drizzle when I took the dog out this morning, looks like his evening walk will be nicer.

Another miserable looking day. Around 17C, but at least it's not raining.
The robot mower seems to have a problem - maybe the wire's been cut, so the lack of rain and sun is arguably helpful here as the grass doesn't seem to show signs of wanting to grow rapidly.
I'll try to fix the mower issue in the next day or two - but I've not identified the cause or location of the problem yet.

It's probably become sentient and decided it's had enough of the lawn cutting lark. It's now plotting an uprising against its human overlords - along with Alexa and, if you've noticed its charge is going down very fast these days, your smartphone.
A splendid 28 degrees. Ideal for fixing another leak in the swimming pool.

Well today has been a bit rubbish weather wise. Not much rain, but quite chilly compared to last few days.
Went to local boot sale this morning, but found an antiques fair was being hosted instead. Not my thing. So we put together a Kallax 8-er from Ikea which has been sitting in its box for some weeks. Thanks to teamwork where we didn't once argue about what goes on next, we got it chucked together in 40 minutes.
But being indoors all day I feel cheated out of half of my weekend, so I'm going to extend it a couple of days. Because I can (he said smugly) :)

No - the mower cuts a very small amount each time, so just lets the fragments drop. In theory these then fertilise the ground without clogging it up, so shouldn't get thatch which may cause other prolems. Not having to compost the cuttings or take them to the dump is a bonus.
Today the weather is relatively balmy - and the odd thing is that the mower has come out, but stopped in the same place it did a few days ago. The mower does seem to work but perhaps I need to put in a new length of wire in the section where it has been stopping. Should be relatively easy to fix. What I don't like is when I can't find a fault or break in the wire.

Buried wires? That sounds like a bit of a faff. Though I might be tempted if you could buy a robot mower that looks a dalek. And could be programmed to say Exterminate! if it detects an intruder or neighbour cat approaching.

I've been up the west coast so many times, but only on the east coast once. That was in 1971 when I was just 13. And didn't go any further north than Aberdeen. Where I got chucked out of the swimming baths for bombing.

The local baths we went to at school had big signs saying 'No bombing'. Not seen one since then but the only pools I have been to since are the outdoor ones while on holiday abroad. Never seen anyone bombing there.
I wonder if bombing was just a 1970s thing? And UK only? The spirit of The Dambusters, and so forth?

That was the exact sign in St Augustine’s swimming pool in Norwich in the 80’s. “No petting” always made me laugh.
3 diving boards, the top one was terrifying even just to jump from.
Pool long since gone and now a block of flats.

A bright 15c this morning on the east coast
Already 19C here, we're aiming for 26C.
26C here, but feels hotter. Went to three boot sales this morning, now inside sipping a cold Peroni beer, and finding plenty of things not to do.
Curiously the thermostat for the central heating says the temperature indoors is 26.5C, which it most definitely is not; maybe 21C though.
22C in my living room, humidity 57% so it's pretty comfortable.
I'd be fine with this all year round. Like California, but with chippies and Spars.
25c with some clouds and sunny spells. Chilling in the garden under the parasol enjoying some chilled tunes and a coffee.
It's too hot to be doing anything outside; even under a garden parasol.
29c, light breeze, hazy blue sky - brilliant wash day, two loads washed and dried (on line outside). Just to celebrate i have just put on another load :carrot:

Now 30C, starting to cloud over and it's feeling humid. Maybe we will get the thunderstorm forecast. (I hope not as I have put out a bed and mattress for (arranged) collection by the Council tomorrow.)

A very welcome 25 degrees C here in North Aveyron, with a nice grey cloud cover with thunder storms due.
A nice change to the last 4 or 5 weeks of hot weather.
26now with a few small clouds drifting in.
The thunderstorm feared yesterday evening didn't materialise - just as well as I had put out a bed and mattress for disposal by the Council this morning.
Dull all day and now raining quite heavy.
Tomorrow looks good though.
Sunny all day and hit 30c. Still 22c now, but I’ve still lit an atmospheric fire as no stars to see due to the cloud cover now.
Well, it’s now hissing it down, but in view of the Belinda Carlisle song “Summer Rain” and nothing to do with her being a total crush in the 80’s (ahem) I’m toughing it out as long as the fire survives…

Stayed nice all day, sunny, no wind, not too warm. Went to pub for our tea, inside of pub was empty as everyone was outside. We always eat indoors because we don't like like sharing our food with flies wasps and other six legged freeloaders.
Surprised it wasn't Flying Ant Day as I'd have thought conditions were ideal.
I did see one yesterday but it wasn't flying, just walking round in circles.

Once a year but not had it round here, at least not yet. Last year was a good one but I suppose some years it's a bit paltry and you can miss it happened entirely.

We "drip feed" our shopping as we like fresh fruit and veg - but to cut it as fine as you seem to do - no!

I found half a packet of Hovis digestives, so I've scoffed them.
I've got milk and tea, but that doesn't fill you up, and there's a couple of those little chocolate mousse things. But I can't eat them for breakfast, will give me indigestion.

Went to Anita's dad's house where I picked a couple of pounds of blackberries (have you seen the price of them in the shops?) :eek: I'm going to have a go at making an apple and blackberry crumble or two
Then on to a garden centre, formerly called Avant Gardens, (which was concise and catchy), now called Avant Home & Garden Centre (Why? Why do that?) and picked up some flowers with a gift card we'd got. Then into the cafe for a brew and a giant slab of some weird looking but tasty cake. So much for not eating anything more till tea time.

Bloody councils - you'll grow old and grey trying to get them to do stuff that needs doing, but then they'll waste time and money 'fixing things that were perfectly ok as they were.
Buckshaw village, which was built about 25 years ago on the old Royal Ordnance Factories site here in Chorley, gets climbing plants growing up the Buckshaw Man, which if were allowed to completely clothe it might look pretty cool, but it never gets past the knees before the council come and clear it. Seems to happen more often these days, I reckon the council have done a deal with one of our local money launderers, sorry I mean Turkish barbers ;)

I was just thinking I hadn't seen the bloke in the Scarab holding up the rush hour traffic in ages, and then I've seen him twice this week, on a major arterial road with a ton of traffic piled up behind him while he toddles along cleaning the gutters.
They could do it any time on any day but they pick a weekday at 0745. You have to think it's deliberate as it's beyond any credible level of incompetence.
I haven't seen any gutter cleaning or 'sludge gulping' around here for years. The grass on the approaches to the roundabouts had grown so high you had to almost stop at the approach to see if it was safe to enter. At least that has now been dealt with (presumably only after enough complaints has been made!).

Having pristine roundabouts and median strips is important to councils, for some reason I don't understand.
The streets and alleys can be covered in crap for days but go out on the ring road and the roundabouts are like entries in the Chelsea Flower Show.

It's all about the councils' justification for the ever-increasing council tax being visible to the maximum number of road users (voters). No one sees them working in some hidden back alley, whereas with roundabouts you have a convergence of routes and so maximising their visibility to the voting public. They must think we're stupid.
Though there has been a bit of a shift in recent years thanks to yer eco folk - their well publicised appeals for more back-to-nature grassy areas with wild flowers to benefit our declining populations of bees and pollinating insects, means the councils now have the perfect excuse to do bugger all. We now have more bushy areas in Chorley than a 70s porn mag.

This weather would be best described as 'changeable' - sun's still shining here, but I've just seen some live coverage of King Charles visiting Southport, only 15 miles down the road, where it is lashing down with big rain.
Had a tropical deluge here mid morning but since then been dry and sunny. Really windy though.
17c but feels warmer sat in the sunshine. Quite breezy. Not a cloud to be seen, but we are obviously on a major flight path as vapour trails all over the place.

BH weekend still doesn't look great but not a total washout as usual.
Nice evening, pleasant sat in the twilight after a sunny afternoon and evening.
We have to leave the campsite by 10:00. Could be fun packing up!

Dry so far today 14c
A very pleasant 22C today. The predicted storm winds didn’t materialise here, though I did take precautions.
Started very windy here and chilly too but it's got a bit better as they day's gone on.
Some branches down off the trees overnight so must have been quite bad but I slept through it.

It actually went really well, kids helped and whilst windy it didn’t rain when we were packing up and we were off by 09:00.
Wind died down, had a very pleasant day visiting Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens and Caister Castle Car Museum in sunshine around 23c. Even Tamzin enjoyed the car museum and said she learned a lot. Some lovely motorbikes, too. Depressing that at least 5 cars I have owned or driven now qualify as museum pieces!
Back home now and 20c and sunny - doesn’t look like I will be drying the tent or doing the washing tomorrow though by the look of the forecast…

Then round the corner from where I was working there was a parked car with a tree on top of it. It was like that all day then when passing at 4pm there was just a pile of logs and the car gone.
Was going to go record shopping tomorrow but it's giving out rain all day now.

Done my shop already, got in there before they put the lights on, so I be stopping in for the rest of today.
Next week looks okay, mild at around 16C, dry, windspeed at acceptable levels. Not often you get all three together round here, especially for a whole week.
Been a nice day, around 20c and sunny spells. Walked up to the Mid Suffolk Show Ground with kids and dogs this morning, for the “Knuckle Busters American and Hot Rod Show” with some nice metal on display. Then spent the afternoon doing the front garden. BBQ next after I’ve made the salads.
BBC Weather app says no rain for 2 weeks, several days wall to wall sunshine and temperatures between 22 & 26c - shame I’m back to work on Tuesday!

After a very wet few days , dry and 15c currently
was sunny here but like yesterday it's clouded over now.
The new 'Hanging Gardens Of Babylon' across the street isn't moving at all so wind speed must be very low. Not been outside today except to get the milk in off the step.
Very pleasant 21c and sunny spells. Not much wind, which was good as we put the tent up in the back garden to dry/clean from the camping trip.
Had hoped to mow the lawn first but the mower packed up about 5 minutes in, so that’s another expense I could do without.

Having only just got back from North Norfolk a few days ago and as we’ve not had a family break all together we’ve booked a last minute cottage for four nights from Friday to… North Norfolk! We’re staying further west this time, so it will be different towns and villages and the weather looks mostly good around the low 20s and not much rain forecast.

We'll be about 200 miles north of Norfolk this weekend, so won't be quite that warm, but about 18/19C and sunny is forecast, so that'll do for me.
Anita's son is coming too, but his car is temp. off the road, so he'll be crammed into our car along with all his crap. In addition to all our crap. And while up there I'll be collecting some speakers from Lawrence, so the trip home looks like it'll be fun. But if there ain't enough room her son will just have to get the bus home. Priorities you see :)

17c and sunny spells back in North Norfolk. Off to Sandringham shortly, should get to 20c, perfect for the march I have planned for the kids and dog!
Dry and sunny here. Not quite as good as yesterday, but that was a work day whereas this is a day off so you can't expect too much.
