Folks,
As ever I am seeking advice or suggestions please:- relating to my current tonearm which after installing a new headshell as well as a Stanley Engineering ebony mounting block (for a Decca blue) - is at it's limit for balancing.
The standard counterweight is almost at the end of it's travel on the rear arm stub, where a significant amount of 'thread' is visible.
I'm sure it's not advisable to have the weight so far back and I am a little concerned that it may drop off if I'm not too careful.
I know Alfred Bokrand has a supplementary counterweight that he manufactures but that normally seems to be part of a whole new arm configuration. As attractive as that may be, it is beyond my budget. His additional weights do however look ideal and well engineered.
I've searched around and wondered if anyone has experience of anything similar ?
There are some brass rings on flea-bay that fit onto the existing weight and attach with a grub screw. Clearly this provides additional weight, but I'm not sure if the increase in the diameter of the weight would adversely effect the dynamics of the arm. It may solve one problem, while creating an entirely new one.
