Hi
Just had my Denon DL 304 back from Expert Stylus Co. after retipping.

They sent some instructions about stylus care and cleaning.Their preferred method is using a non alcoholic spectacle glass cleaner on a cotton wool bud, I have tried the method on my Benz Glider cartridge an it works well.

Mike.

Good suggestion, but would prefer to use something other than a cotton bud. I use the velvet stylus cleaning pad made by Cecil Watts. I'm not sure if they are still available; maybe there are other alternatives.

For me Magic Eraser is easy to use and cleans perfectly.

I might stop using wire wool and IPA and have a go with spectacle cleaner and a cotton bud?:uhho:

What's wrong with using your finger? ;) Just make sure you have the volume turned up!

I just do a few needle drops onto a well kneaded ball of Blu Tack.
Found it more effective than ISO and a soft brush.

Occasionally I will use an electronic stylus cleaner with a vibrating carbon fibre pad. (Mine is made by Goldring.)

I used to put one drop of neat IPA on the pad before use, but have now abandoned that idea after advice and caution that the IPA might migrate up the cantilever into the cartridge body and possibly cause damage.

I use à block of green jewellers putty.

India Pale Ale? Just checking... the low alcohol would not surprise me. Or is the IPA taken internally?
