Number 2 in a short series. I am now offering my Technics SL-PG490 CD player for sale. These use the CDM12 mechanism and a MN662713RG1, one-bit (MASH) D to A to give an accurate rendition of the recorded sounds. It was part of a family with an overall commonality but with more features as the price went up. This is the next to top model.
Overall in very good condition apart from a couple of minor scratches on the top where other components have stood in the past, no dents.
This player follows a semi-minimalist approach, it only has analogue out plus optical digital out. So if you tire of using the internal DAC (I found it non-fatiguing and very listenable) you can connect an outboard DAC to suit your preferences.
There are the essential controls plus Program, Random etc. There is a quarter inch headphones socket (gold plated) with volume control. There is a manual on CD ROM which I will include but no remote (although it does respond to the commands) which is part number EUR645273 if you need one. There is no mains lead (standard figure of 8 type) as the latter have a habit of damaging items in transit.
I am clearing several of my less used bits of Hi-Fi as my wife wants the space (I will still have several CD players, don't worry). I don't have the original box but will buy lots of bubble wrap and put it into a strong cardboard box for transit.
This is a great player for a first or second system or backup (just in case) and a bargain at only £60 including post and packaging. Cash on collection is welcomed, tea, biscuits and a chat about Hi-Fi on offer.
These classic players are enjoying a resurgence of interest as they sound really good but without the costly price tag of more modern (and often worse-sounding) players.
