11C and foggy (for a change). The grass needs cutting, so I hope the rain holds off.
It is a bank holiday here today,
12 degrees and cloudy. Looks like rain is due any time soon.
I also need to cut the grass, and tidy up the wooded area. No chance today in my opinion.

Happy to report that the washing dried successfully! Weather looking good for the next few days down here, although of course it turns to rat shit for the bank holiday on Monday…

A sunny 13c so far
After two beautiful days of sunny spells and nudging the 20’s we’re back to 11c and heavy rain. Forecast for the BH weekend was looking ok but now looks typical…. Tomorrow morning might be the only window of opportunity for some much needed garden maintenance.

But if you want a tattoo then you're spoiled for choice.
We do have a catalogue returns shop which used to be excellent, got some Rockports there for less than half price. But now it just seems to have complete tat. No-name brands and outsize stuff like keks with a 50 inch waist.

Dull and dry right now. Supposed to get to 16C later - probably 14C right now. Visibility clearing.
Still pretty yuk though. This year seems a complete bummer so far.

You're right of course it is the law. We've not had ours yet but the forecast is showing a 50% chance over the next three hours.
Next week looks pretty good. Low on actual sunshine, but 16/17C and no wind.

She also predicts that the general election will happen in August-ish. And that Starmer won't be leading the Labour Party by then.

Went out for dinner (at a Turkish restaurant specialising in Anatolian cuisine) at 19:15. It was still light and was warm enough for me not to need a jacket. :)

Getting very warm out there. 6.30am saw me painting the garden table/chairs and some fence panels, and now I have that behind me I can spend the rest of the day doing as I please :) What to do, what to do...
18c but clouded over at the mo, good opportunity to take the pooch for a walk before it burns off.

Next week not looking so good but suppose we can't complain, still early in the season.
Sometimes we don't see the sun at all here until July.

At last a nice day - pleasantly sunny and warm.
Managed to get the robot lawn mower going over the last few days, so the front is starting to look tidier, and just mowed the back lawn - which is currently not "robotized".
It'd be good if the nice spell lasts long enough to really enjoy it - not just catch up on "doing things" - but the forecast for here doesn't seem to go that far.

Tried to go out to see aurora last night - but no show - maybe it's my eyesight! Sadly someone managed to get photos and see it a mile or two from here, but we drove almost 80 miles [round trip] north, and saw nothing.
Did anyone else get to see it?

I didn't see it either. The aurora is a capricious beast. Years ago I made a special trip to Iceland to see it, but initially to no avail - I had almost given up when one night I came out of the restaurant, looked up to see the most marvellous display. Had it not been so cold I would have stayed out for longer!
Too much light pollution here. Surprised we can still see the moon, that's about all you can see though.

In fairness I can walk about half a mile down to the posh end and there you can see Venus and occasionally Mars if it's a clear night. But I'm right on the edge of town so it's lit up like Las Vegas.
They've almost finished building two massive apartment blocks which will have a light in every window and all their grounds and car parks lit up too. Probably be able to see them from space.
where my mother lives in Liverpool, it's the opposite. Hardly any street lights and the few that exist are really dim. This is a 1930s suburb I'm talking about, not out in the sticks.
You can barely see where you're putting your feet. Last time I was there I saw people using torches.
Car thermometer says 24.5c - BBC Weather app says we should be at around 21c but definitely feels hotter than that.
Went out with daughter last night to see the Northern Lights about midnight, but nothing doing (apart from me falling into a ditch full of thorns and stinging nettles!) although people in the village saw them on Friday. News article said the magnetic field dropped last night although did pick up in the early hours, and there may be a chance again tonight.

Same here, and a bit cooler too. I hadn't quite got used to the warmer temps, it was all a bit sudden. Ok in the daytime, but this house holds onto the warmth like a giant storage heater and gets uncomfortable at night.
Still sat in the garden in shorts, have put a jacket on though as now 14c. Listening to some chilled tunes with a glass of Rioja and hoping to see some Northern Lights as supposed to be clear, but most likely I’ll just fall asleep and wake up at 3am with hypothermia.

So I spent much of the day filling an 8-yard skip with assorted crap from under my car port (much of it stuff I'd kept because it looked like it could be used for something). So I've been really ruthless today - as the skip cost me 300 quid I'm going to fill every little bit of it.

If you get on well with your neighbours, one way to save a bit of money is to see if he has any crap he needs to be rid of, and "sell" him a bit of your skip space. I've done that with mates on a few occasions :)

A dry 15c this morning, with the sun trying to make an appearance
18c and sunny, had a lovely walk with the dog up to see Sue at the car boot sale who is having another go this week - probably a third of the sellers there were last week and she has sold a lot more, so that’s good, might get the living room back by Christmas!
Hoping daughter had been wearing sun cream on her D of E hike…. Picking her up from Walberswick at around 14:30 so a few hours of gardening beckons beforehand. Weather set to stay lovely all day so BBQ when we get back. :)

Did another boot sale this morning and made almost as much profit as last Sunday. I'm often surprised by the buyers who want something for almost nothing. Today it was someone who drove an expensive BMW 4x4, yet quibbled over a toddler's tricycle for which we were asking £4.
These people don't get to afford BMWs by paying £4 for their toddler tricycles.
Mrs. P is good at haggling, does it all the time. I just get embarrassed and move away while she chips away at the price. I've never haggled in my life - I'd be so bad at it I'd end up paying more than the original price :doh:

:D Reminds me of the closest I ever came to haggling, it was at a Turkish market. I saw this leather belt with a Harley Davidson buckle, and thought it might be a nice gift for my Harley-riding mate.
But after picking it up and handling it I changed my mind. The seller saw this and told me the price was 60 lira. I'd known this mate since I was 14, but no way was he worth that. So I moved away. The trader snatched up the belt and followed me through the market, incrementally decreasing the asking price while I repeatedly told him I wasn't interested. Eventually, with his stall a distant speck on the horizon, I paid him 5 lira, just to be rid of him.
Even though it was a genuine fake, it was still leather and probably cost less than a quid.

He didn't haggle, just turned it down. So no sale. The trike was easily worth double - his loss. But no problem - it will be sold another day.
My partner is very good at haggling, whereas I'm hopeless at it: if I'm happy with the asking price, that is what I will pay, regardless of whether it's a bargain or not.

Brightened up now after a grey start, 16c and set to get a couple of degrees warmer with no rain forecast.
dull all day until about 1630 then the sun came out.

Springsteen on at S.O.L Sunderland tonight,10 miles or so up the road.
Been raining non stop since about 8 -8.30 this morning ,at times heavy.
Fingers crossed that it eases for everybody attending
14c now and cloudy, horrendous rain last night and throughout the day, many roads flooded this morning but looks like we've seen the worst of it - for now.

A dull 13c so far
Bright here but it isn't sunny and there's rain due in a bit.
Tomorrow's forecast looks wild - thunderstorms all afternoon.
Dull and cloudy, showers on and off, 16c. Our forecast for tomorrow now doesn’t show thunderstorms, just a high chance of light showers most of the day.
Grass is doing well - raining again

We got a downpour an hour ago, and I thought "here we go!" Well that lasted about 2 minutes. All dried up again and back to being cloudy. Is this what I stopped at home for? I want my money back :( Only good thing about today was that I almost but not quite got our robin to take a worm from my hand while weeding. Pretty fearless little buggers.
Had thunder earlier but it was a way off. Now it's back with some lighting effects too, still a few miles away though.
Just back from Horning near Wroxham in the Norfolk Broads and we had a little thunder after lunch but now back home (about 50 miles south) and nice sunny spells and dry, tomorrow looking better than it was

30 minutes ago we had a lightning strike that was almost simultaneous with the thunder, and for the first time since we got Sky the Skybox switched itself off, and the a/v amp switched itself on. Very strange and a bit annoying, though not as bad as the house across the road, whose alarm went off and kept going until a couple of minutes ago.
Also quite strange, the telly came back on with a previously unknown channel (Rewind TV), which is currently showing the first episode of "Monkey". Even back in the 80s the special effects were pretty naff, and the years have not been kind, so I think I'll not bother.

Back in the 80s it was throwaway programming but compared to modern telly, it's Shakespeare.

Is all your electronic kit working properly? Routers etc. Other electrical kit - microwave ovens, phones ....
Years ago we had a similar event, and several of us in our street had electronic kit damaged needing replacement. Our TV was trashed, so we claimed on insurance, and the insurance company sourced a similar one to the one which was damaged, rather than giving us money to buy our own.
Not too long after the lightning strike I noticed that part of the garage on the house opposite had fallen down, and bricks were lying across the car in that drive. So that event produced considerable localised damage.

Thanks for the heads up Dave, I hadn't considered that. I've just been round checking, and everything seems to be working as it should. In the case of my Marantz CD player, better than before.
A while ago it developed a fault, whereupon after switching on the disc drawer wouldn't open and needed some "manual" help (subsequent use always worked for some reason). A few owners have reported a similar issue. Well now it's gone back to functioning as it should, and though it probably has nothing to do with the lightning strike I'll take it as a win :)
Meanwhile the heavy showers continue this morning. I might have to go out in a bit to see how the river's doing.

We are at a boot sale - yesterday everything was rained off, so we're making up for it today. :)

Spent a very enjoyable few hours with the family at the Mid Suffolk Light Railway https://www.mslr.org.uk/visit-us/#event-16548 and its annual 40’s weekend with lots of WW2 vehicles, equipment and people dressed up. Weather held out - sunny spells and around 16c. Now back home and the clouds are looking menacing.

I watched all the BBC output from the Chelsea show and on each, Monty and the other fella were talking about the "long hot Summer" we are going to have to get used to. As I sit here with my fleece on to keep the cold at bay and look at the rain pouring down outside, I am wondering when the "long hot Summer" will arrive. Last year we were continually told about the "long hot Summer" and I'm still waiting for that one.

A cloudy 16c here
19c and sunny spells. Just spent a lovely day at the Suffolk Show - got caught in a couple of heavy showers but stayed mostly dry. Highlight of the day for me was the heavy horses - beautifully turned out with their carriages and a good mix of breeds. Here’s one of them showing the clouds.

I suppose back in the olden days many people would have that week as a compulsory holiday so that makes sense. Was the same round here, lots of places had compulsory holiday at the same time. Was still going when I first moved here but not any more.

Weekend predicted to be dry, with sunny spells from tomorrow afternoon and all day Sunday, up to 19c before the rain returns on Monday - usually the other way round, hisses it down all weekend then bright when I go back to work - we shall see…

It's been warm and sunny here all day, which is nice as I spent much of the afternoon pointing the valleys on next door's roof with Anita's lad. I was perfectly happy to let him crack on while I got on with the important business of listening to Mike Oldfield, but then I was made to feel guilty :(
Forecast to be similar tomorrow, and as I've now built up some brownie points, and mowed the lawn, I'm going to have a lazy day in the garden with the radio :)

Well I suppose that depends on whether you go by meteorological summer (1st June to 1st September) or Astrological summer which runs from the summer solstice to Autumn equinox- usually 21st June (my son’s birthday) to 21st September (my daughter’s birthday). I always have opted for the latter, but which ever rule you use I would expect it to still be crap!
In my house we are strictly meteorological. 12 months, 4 seasons, 3 months each. It's nice and tidy.
Not been that bad today. Even had a bit of weak sunshine in the late afternoon.
Tomorrow looks okay. Dry with a bit of sun, 17C.
Tomorrow is forecast to be dry, if cold. But then it will be June and the start of a new "Crap weather for ..." thread. ;)
