View Full Version : Crap weather for April
8C and sunny. The forecast however is for sunshine and showers all week.
Shan't be going out much - still decorating!
nothing happening here, too early for weather to start yet.
Consulting the forecast I see it is due to start raining soon. There's a surprise.

Started with the rain here about an hour ago, so you'll get it soon enough, if not already.
The day started with great promise but bank holiday clouds are now arriving.

Looking out at the weather up here, you got out of Llandudno just in time. And not just for the weather... Wales Online reported that beginning this weekend, parts of the M4 will be restricted to 40 mph to reduce pollution, accidents and confusion caused by Welsh language road signs. I don't think we'll be bothering with Wales this summer after all :(

Now experiencing the predicted heavy, but short, rain showers. :(

Really foggy here this morning. Not that mist pish that passes for fog these days, proper 70s fog but without the smokey undertones.
Lucky!
was sunny here, bright enough to wake me up early but now I'm out of bed it's clouded over.
9C and cloudy. No doubt it will rain later.

Rain but no wind at all. Weekend is no rain but gale force winds.
Not sure which is worse. Of course there's no chance of having neither.

Dry and sunny, but really windy. Off out later this morning to test ride a couple of motorbikes, not ideal really.
Can't judge windspeed from inside my house anymore, not since they took down the Hanging Gardens of Babylon opposite (there was a big bush growing out of the roof). But forecast says gusts of 39mph.
Be careful out there!

A nice bright warm day, spoiled a little bit my my own clumsiness - Mrs. P had me put up some shelves in the garage, and when fixing the bracket to the wall with a power screwdriver I somehow managed to crush my index finger between the bracket and the wall  It bled a lot, but I didn't cry.

Well having watched a programme set in Brighton (probably on Channel 5) called "Night Coppers", I expect regular rainfall is needed to wash away all the Saturday-night pavement vomit :spew: The town itself looks pretty smart, a lot smarter than Blackpool anyway, but I don't know where all those feral-looking young folk come from at night, probably the drains.
If it weren't for family ties (isn't it always?) I'd have no problem moving somewhere warmer. Healthier climate, cheaper living costs, especially heating bills.

Yeah I saw that on the news earlier, a pretty big caravan that was.
In the olden days when I was a keen biker, Volvos and caravans were the enemy, due to their capacity to ruin your ride out or worse. I'm older and much calmer now, and actually feel a bit sorry for the owner of that caravan. Won't be starting any crowdfunding mind, but at least I didn't laugh.
In the coming days it looks like the winds will be less severe, but a fair bit cooler than it ought to be.

Yesterday the gritters went past our house. Surely not. This morning the grass and the cars have a covering of frost, but I do think the council were being over cautious.
We don't live on a main road, but we were on a bus route, and as such had to be gritted. It ceased to be a bus route about 15 years ago, but it seems no one has told the gritters yet... Oh well, makes it safer for the rest of us.

Just as bad up here - strong winds have blown all the cherry blossoms off the tree, and so now the petals are all stuck to the Volvo which now looks like it's moonlighting as a wedding car. And the heavy rain will have washed away all the road salt in time for more frost tonight. World's gone mad.
forecast says will rain all night, then start again tomorrow afternoon.
Giving out dry all next week, I bet that doesn't happen. Temperatures not making into double figures for the foreseeable either. You can guarantee that bit will be accurate.

Actually I've just got back from a quick run on it - It's a noisy bugger, so even if car drivers don't see me coming they'll certainly hear me :) It's a lot different to my bike, harder to keep upright at low speeds, and (as I just found out) going fast round corners scrapes the footboards on the tarmac. Startled me a bit.
It definitely slowed me down, which is probably a good thing.

Sunny here but still a bit chilly. It's that north wind.
Week ahead looks crap. Raining all day Monday, then the wind changes - to easterly, which is just as cold as the northerly.
Temperatures not even going to reach double figures, and it's nearly May. Just utterly piss-poor.

I don't know how you get that weather, you're further north and probably as high up as here. I went out about 0945 and my breath was fogging.
Not as bad as last couple of weeks as there was no howling arctic wind for once but still a long way from T-shirt time.

Well it was drizzling in Chorley first thing, but I was working between Preston and Blackpool. The Bowland fells a few miles away were under cloud, so we just got lucky I suppose. And my mate's wife (who works in the local chippy) came over with pies, which was nice. Even better, tomorrow she's fetching peppered steak pie and chips :)
You are almost in the centre of the country, while I was only a few short miles from the coast - that'll have something to do with it.

I've noted many blokes in their 30s and 40s wearing shorts outdoors during the last couple of weeks. Whereas when I went out, it was at times woolly hat, scarf and gloves for me!
