no weather here yet, still a bit early for it, but according to forecast rain is on the way. For a change.

1C, going to be a cold day, but starts warming from tomorrow, into double figures by mid week.

Same here. Bit of frost this morning as last night the sky was clear, now it's cloudy so not really warming up.

Last week I looked at BBC Weather on my phone, which showed that the temps would be in the high teens. Couldn't believe it, then just when I was thinking about going swimwear shopping I noticed it was talking about weather in Nessebar, Bulgaria  Must be a hangover from my holiday last year. Bloody Huwawei phones :(

6c and dry today, although feels a lot colder in the house, as we have had no heating or hot water since Wednesday when the gas engineer who was here to service the boiler decided that gas needed to switched off due to a leak, still waiting for the replacement part.

Too early to tell really. Just above zero right now, but supposed to go up to 10C later.
No wind, no rain, slight frost on the grass, some mist, but I can see several miles - perhaps 4 or 5. Maybe it'll all clear later.

Hopefully the weather will stay nice for you, and normally my motto is "Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow", but I wanted to get in front of the next batch of rain, and I don't trust the forecasts.

Of course now I've done the grass it won't rain at all

bit rubbish today, no rain but cold and grey, like the middle of winter again.

Sunday by contrast was quite mild with sunny spells, maybe we're going backwards?

On the plus side the daffodils are out and seen some blossom and green shoots on the trees.

Handy when it all grows out green as it hides all the rubbish accumulated in the hedges and bushes. Not sure what I'm paying with my council tax but it doesn't seem to include street-cleaning anymore.

Wet and windy in Chorley this morning, not ideal weather for fitting roof windows. But my mate said it was dry in Preston (which is only 12 miles away), and it was. In fact sun came out and I stripped down to t shirt (and trousers of course). Started raining about 2pm, a few minutes after completing job :)

Sunny here, and warmed up a bit. Grass looks pretty dry, so when Moto GP ends on the telly it'll be lawnmowing part 2. I'll give it a crew cut, right now it's more like a mullet.

Barry
24-03-2024, 14:37
I usually give the grass (it's not good enough to be called a lawn  ) two cuts. But I don't like it to look 'scalped' with that horrible yellow colour, so will give it a first rough cut then let it recover for a day or two and then do a second closer cut, leaving it still green.

Then I go indoors, maybe pour myself a slug of whisky, and admire my handywork.

Pigmy Pony
25-03-2024, 08:03
Well I had intended to mow the lawn yesterday afternoon as we'd had 2 consecutive dry days, almost unheard of. Instead I fell asleep (Saturday night had been a late one). Never mind, I'll do it Monday. Pissing down now, and it's fair to say Mrs. P is not happy. In fact my name is mud, much like the garden :(

But this afternoon I'll be assembling some Ikea shelving, without being asked. That should restore my "occasionally useful" status :)

It's Nature's way of telling you to retire Steve. :)

I think you're right Barry, and that day is coming... but the very idea of closing the door on that part of my life fills me with dread. Running costs of that van are such that I need to average one day a week of working to keep it on the road, and Martin's comment about current van prices is something to think about, but I just can't face the thought of having folk round kicking tyres and potential after-sale grief.

I do actually have a second, older van (Anita's van really) that I could use, but we have vague plans to make it into a campervan.

We currently have 2 vans, a car and 3 motorcycles, and that's really too much. A bit of a headache really.

I can put you in contact with some dealers, trade sale, no comebacks.

Thanks Mart, I will take you up on that, but not just yet. I do have a number of jobs coming up, and also I will need to make the van a bit more sorted so I can sell with a clear conscience :)

Only trouble is, you go "Right I'll get the thing fettled then sell it", then what happens is "It's all sorted now, so I'll keep it"

Blue sky and sunshine this morning, but that means nothing if the last few days are anything to go by. Going out later to look at some motorbikes for sale, but there's nothing like our beautiful British weather to ruin anything outdoorsy.

8C and clear. It is actually very pleasant-looking and sunny. But it's Easter, so anything can happen with our British weather.

7C and partly cloudy.

At least it didn’t rain yesterday and might stay dry today, but the forecast is for rain next week! :( Good job I shall be indoors decorating.

Almost perfect outside this morning, all blue skies. For some reason there was no dew last night, so grass is pretty dry and I was able to walk round the garden in my slippers :wheniwasaboy:with the cat stalking me. I might even take a posh coffee out to the garden table shortly :) I could look quite civilised if I'm not still in my "lounge pants".
