A big thanks to West Yorkshire police, I know the police get slagged off a lot in the media these days but they have my thanks today. I finished work today and nipped to the supermarket for my weekend booze , I was 5 mins , when I came out my beloved yamaha fz6 had been nicked:( within 2 hrs it had been found and recovered 10 miles away. Its being kept for forensics and its suffered damage though I don't yet know to what extent. Ta West Yorkshire bobbies

Glad to read that your Yammie has been recovered, hopefully the damage isn't too severe.

I can imagine what a sickener it must have been to find it gone - we do become attached to our bikes, like they're a pet. I've had mine nearly 18 years now, and even though I've not ridden it this last two years and logically I should probably sell it, I just couldn't do it.

And yes, well done West Yorkshire police - obviously on the ball. I guess they have to be, what with having Bradford to deal with :eek:

I know I'm stating the obvious James, but I'll say it anyway - if you're going to suffer the expense of losing some of your no-claims and also the cost of excess, be sure to go over your bike with a magnifying glass. You won't get a second shot at claiming. ("Honestly, those tyres had more tread before") :D

Thieving bloody scrotes - you know, I'd rather they nicked my van than my bike. Hard to explain, but I always became more attached to my bikes than any car I owned.

It's in the hands of the insurance now, I handed over the keys to the recovery firm today, wasn't allowed to see it.i will be gutted if its messed up. It's a 2009 bike that only saw tarmac in 2021, when I bought it so it's a rare mint bike, really pissed off

Probably worth more to them to sell it for spares. Might be worth you looking into getting a settlement and trying to buy it back to fix.

I have considered it Geoff, however £650 insurance excess, around £250 to get it to a garage, at a guess £1000 to £1500 to buy it back then of course repairs to which I dont know the extent and it's not making economic sense to me. I'm going to ask for information on the damage to see whether it might be worth it though. Bloody shame it were a great bike

Depends how much the insurance pay out will be I suppose, then do a bit of sums. Be a shame to see such a nice bike go. Really pisses me off that through no fault of your own you end up hundreds of pounds out of pocket while those thieving barstools who nicked it IF they are caught, and IF they are convicted will likely get a few hours community service and a fine that barely covers the petrol they burned in your pride and joy :steam:

They should be made to compensate you for the money it's cost you. Ok they may not have much cash due to never being arsed with gainful employment, but that's where bailiffs come in. Because they sure as shit will have top spec smartphones (on Giff Gaff ofc) and a giant flatscreen telly that'll only just fit through the door. Take away the stuff they love and see how they like it, only way they'll ever learn.

Hello,yeah it's a scene alright. Havnt had any follow up from t cops, it's odd that it were found in an underpass 10 miles away in.leeds .did they bypass the immobiliser and ride it or stick it in a van? Can't understand why it were just left? Anyway it's done. BASTADS
