I was browsing the interweb while I am in a boring meeting, and spotted this TD125 that looks interesting: https://www.leboncoin.fr/photo_audio_video/2376995271.htm

Is the arm anything special, or just a standard Thorens arm?

Acos Lustre. Decent early 70s Japanese.

Thanks for the quick response.
That makes the TD125 look like an interesting proposition.

That is not the original headshell (which was nothing special). The Lustre arm originally came with a screw in rear armtube extension stub and additional smaller counterweight for use with heavier cartridges. Handy if using particularly heavy cartridges, but most wouldn't need it.

Thanks.
€550 looks like a good deal for a TD125 with a decent arm.

I think it's a fair prospect.

This idea has been binned. The washing machine decided to stop spinning yesterday.
It could just need new brushes, or it could be something more serious. Troubleshooting will commence shortly.

I assume you will have checked the filter that there's no blockage, machine might not spin if it's still full of water. This suggestion comes from a position of zero technical knowledge and a rather patchy memory of a similar problem.

I have thanks. That is the first thing I did.
It needs new brushes. I have got it working for now, and the new brushes arrive on Tuesday.

Cheap fix, does that mean the vintage turntable impulse buy is back on then?

I don’t think so, as the washing machine may not last, so I need to be sensible.

How it works is - you buy the turntable, washing machine blows up the next week. You don't buy the turntable, washing machine lasts another five years :)

Exactly….
