Not sure where to put this but I thought I'd put it here.
The Linn forum is looking for a new home as a result of the demise of the Wam.

I think all they really want is the ability to post new threads under a Linn sub forum heading. The new Maverick forum will only let them have one thread so they can't create new thread titles just add posts to the Linn Owners' Thread.
We've always been a welcoming forum so I think they'd fit in well here. I know the forum has been slower since Marco got unwell and this could be a chance to increase traffic again.
Some of them seem happy to donate towards costs (like we did a while ago), they just don't know how to start a new forum of their own.
I imagine Marco would want to approve and I think there is contact?
Maybe I should have titled this, do we want to stop the decline in the forum...

Basically all I think it needs is a heading under Hifi Studio and Trade and a sticky announcement, and they should be able to look after themselves with a minimum of moderation. I could then point them over here and see what happens. I'm happy to do all the promotion if one of the mods/admins is able to add a sub forum title.
It will help membership and footfall which we really need right now.

That is correct at the moment.
There's nothing to stop Linn fans starting a free forum of their own. If it's of interest, ProBoards amongst others offer that: https://www.proboards.com/create-free-forum
They host Audio Addicts.
If they don't want to run their own, which I'm told at the basic level to start isn't that tough, then just have to run it all under a single thread somewhere for now.
I always hope we get Marco back but there appears to be no immediate hopes of that sadly.
ProBoards is easy enough to set up. I run a forum on there.
If they really want a new home, then they can get it sorted.

thats why it isnt happening until marco says it is...or isnt. :) its his forum so its being run his way as much as we can.

They've already been told they can have a thread to post on at the Maverick forum but a few of them aren't happy with the idea. It's also been suggested they could set up their own forum as they want but again that doesn't seem to be something they want to do.

currently no. requires privilages and knowledge. as for the first, im not sure if the old marco would go for it... but you know him better..

He was fine with hosting a Beresford sub-forum. Can't see it's any different.

Then logically any proposed Linn sub-forum should be part of 'Analogue Art', just as there is one for Technics TTs.
I have no strong feelings either way, but I don't see any demand for other equally specialist sites for the likes of say Quad, Rega, Ortofon etc.

Nope.
They offer a complete range to build a full “Linn” system, if you should so wish.

No, they make record replay gear, amps, speakers and CDPs. They are best known for their LP12 turntable; and I imagine the majority of correspondence would be concerning their TTs.

Like hi-fi dave, and you, I don't think a 'brand club' is needed for any brand or marque.
But I don't have any strong feelings either way - ultimately it is up to Marco to decide.

Definitely not.
On other forums, Linn and Naim threads are often very confrontational and argumentative. As it is, AOS is a friendly place and I'd hate it to be dragged down by zealots supporting products from two companies.

I met Stan down in London back in 2015 and he was indeed a very decent chap. Always willing to help and share his knowledge around.
I think with so many cheap Chinese DACs around nowadays he does have stiff competition but he was great in his day delivering very good value for money DACs. I had one and it was great and I think upgradeable.

I think that's the very reason the sub forum in the WAM worked, regular members could see it but not post in it. It came about initially as an agreement with the WAM by Linn after they shut down their own forum.
AFAIAA Linn users themselves are no more or less decent than the average music / hifi lover out there and certainly in a closed room echo chamber they are quite harmless it's when the rest of us get in that trouble starts!
I think most of the discussion was about the streaming end of things though rather than LP12 etc.

Perhaps that might be reason enough to avoid an exclusive niche.
If we expand the Forum to allow discussion of Linn gear, IMO, it should be open to everyone. Those wanting to participate, but who are not already Members, will have to join. They then will be treated exactly the same as everybody else (and sanctioned if they misbehave; just like all Members here.)

Yes, but they seem to want their own cosy little corner somewhere, but want someone else to do all the work.

We have a council estate near us a bit like that. And "outsiders" not welcome. Probably not much Linn/Naim there though, just lots of giant flat screen tellies and stolen iPads.
