Castle Clifton 2 speakers price

I would like to know the price of this standmounds when new. Were released in 1997. Thank you.

Had a look online and couldn't find anything. I did notice on pictures that they had a budget tweeter compared to the Avon 2s I owned from the same generation and similar Severn 2s so I think these would have been their budget entry level speaker so probably somewhere around £150-180

They would have been cheaper from a company like Mission but all Castle speakers had nice real wood cabinets which added to the cost.

Yes, and there are a Clifton mkII,
I don' t know if my Clifton 2 is the mkII version of Clifton.I could not find nothing reviwer said the mkII model had a worse tweeter.

I'd guess about £450 only based on a sales ad where he's asking £300

They were still listing the Trent in 1997 at RRP £150 that was their cheapest.

I don't think I'd pay more than half the asking price myself, even if I knew what they sounded like and I wanted them..

I'd guess about £450 only based on a sales ad where he's asking £300I sold my Avon 2s (several steps up) for £150 recently no sniffs at £180 for a few weeks. I'd pay £60-80 for these (and even then only if I was prepared to pay a premium for real wood veneer) as they have a cheap tweeter and were clearly made to compete with the likes of mission at the budget end.

Used price to sell you are right but my thinking is that no-one would ask £300 for a speaker that cost less than that new. At least no-one who wanted to make a sale.

Lots of fairly expensive speakers use inexpensive drivers. As long as you're not asking the driver to do something it can't, it doesn't much matter. The main advantage of expensive drivers is they can cover a wider FR before break-up.

Maybe so. I think they would have cost more than the Trent though, which were £150.
