It got great reviews, stereophile loves it.
It has alot of input channels so you can hook several devices to it.
The only reason I went with the little Dot DAC 1 over the Dac Majic is DAC Majic uses a wall wart and a switching power supply and the Little Dot has a large PSU,and a disply I don't need reading glasses to read, not a huge problem.
I would love to see an inside picture of the Dac Majic if you get the cance.
Are we talking of the dacMagic from the 90's?
Put it this way Hamish, ANYTHING is better than QED Siver Anniversary in my book. if you know the person you did the swaps with, I remember using SA with the writing on the cable going back to the amp, and yes, there is an obvious difference in sound doing this with this cable.

Its not bad Hamish but not great I used to have one which I picked up in HiFi Corner in Glasgow about 8 years ago.....I didn't keep it. I guess while it was okay for a budget system in my system it just could not cut it. Imho Stan's 7510 DAC would eat it for breakfast from now until kingdom come.
As a swap for SA speaker cable fair enough.....I paid £30 for the one I got if I remember right.
Lets us know how you get on.

Hi Neil
Any thoughts on a really good DAC/Headphone unit? I use a cheap Maverick D1 which sounds great, if i could better that i'd be happy.

I have the Dacmagic 2 Mk II (the last of the line of the 90s version). I love it - so much in fact that I bought another one for my bedroom system to add to the one in my main system. HiFi World had an Olde Worlde article by David Price not so long ago where he called this DAC "the bargain of the century".
Here is a fact sheet on the various models:-

The Lampizator man also loves these Dacs:-

...in some systems it could sound a little bright (I run mine through a MF x10d tube buffer to smooth things out).
