Hope I'm posting in the correct area:) I did a software update on my LG TV and afterwards the TV would turn itself off and on, 4 or 5 times every now and then when changing channels, I tried all sorts of things  in settings to no avail. A few Google hits and the advice was to unplug the TV for a minute, bingo!! So why does cutting the power supply often fix equipment issues?

Probably a glitch in the ram from the update.
Unplugging for a short while will drain the charge on it and reset to normal.
It's a good fix for tvs

Modern TV's are basically computers which are built for a specialised purpose, watching TV programs received from Terrestrial radio transmission, satellites and digital transmissions. When you powered yours off and left it for a minute or so you performed a full reboot of the system, and this would have likely re-initialised all the software, including the last update(patch) and your setting presets. I suspect that the software update did not completely install or it glitched, hence the problems you had. Hopefully all will be good from now on

Yes all Good now, no problems at all, ta for your replies. The issues occurred at the same time as buying a new sounbar, unfortunately I assumed that this was the problem somehow and returned it:doh:
