Had my current B&W DM607 S2 's for almost a year now, and thanks to B&W bringing out the S3 version, the 606 S2 is now at a really good price, but I'm wondering if they are that much better?
Obviously being slightly larger bass should be a bit better, but how much, I have no problems with the amount of bass the 607's give, or the quality.

Anyone had the chance to compare the 2 models?
It would entail a 60 mile round trip for me to do a comparison so your opinion is well valued!

Hi Craig, I think you've sort of answered your question there. You could take your 607s on a road trip, but comparison with the 606 will be of limited value as it won't tell you how they'll sound in your room with your set up. Bass is good, but more bass isn't always better.

If you've money burning a hole in your pocket, upgrades elsewhere might be a better move. Just my opinion ofc.

You say upgrade elsewhere, care to be more specific?
Thanks

Oh I don't know, but there's always something, maybe upgrade the Node 2i's psu? Or have a play with cables or room treatments? It does sound like you're already happy with everything, so maybe just go to the pub :D

When ah worra ladd...folk would say t'speakers wudd maek biggest difference 't saaaarnd.
Now why I typed that in a Northern accent I'll never know! :)
Joking aside, so that's why I was looking at speakers first, and everyone is discounting the S2 600 series so they're more attractive, well to me at least, especially as the Merc goes in for its big service on Wednesday, and the wristwatch is also in need of looking at, and that's around £750 on its own, hence bargain hunting!
I did recently try some Chord Clearway ic', which should have been the X version but weren't, and were inferior to the Klotz I currently use

I will take your advice re the Node though, but as for room treatment, there is none

As a Northern bloke, I appreciate the effort :)

As for your watch being in need of looking at, well that's the whole point of a wristwatch :ner: Though I did at one time own a pocket watch with braille figures, that didn't need looking at...

If the price of the new B&Ws is cheap enough it may well be worth taking a punt, and sell on if they don't suit. It's just that I don't know what the differences are between the two models. If it's just a bigger enclosure and/or midbass unit, well, you won't know till you get it home. Whatever you decide, it'll be interesting to hear how you get on.

yes I have 607s2 anniversary , in fact i have had 2 pairs . they sound absolutely delightful in a third system with denon or arcam amps . they are the best bargain out there !!! been using for well over a year

tried the 606 s2 against a amphion argon one .... right from the start the 606 sounded initially alright but then the argon just blew them away . liquid , engaging and just beautiful
so no its not worth getting the 606 unless you are on a very tight budget

stick with the 607 or trade up to 700 series or even the 607s3

this guy loves ours

If it were me I would try some PC-OCC interconnects.

I have 4 you can borrow if you would like to try them, perhaps purchase if they are to your liking.

How much per pair?
I very recently tried the Chord Clearway, they were supposed to have been the X version but somehow the company selling them managed to send me a none X pair, and reinstalling my Klotz MC 5000 quickly showed them the door, so as it is I am very pleased with them so not sure about swapping them at this time.

Others have suggested (re) adding a sub, I only recently moved on a Rel Q150 which I have the chance to buy back and lose a few bob, but not much in the process...

Craig, I think that we may have missed what the question related to, and who it was directed at

I think it's @Firebottle's PC-OCC cables.

Thanks!
As I mentioned before I am more than happy with my Klotz MC5000's for the time being, plus I eventually succumbed and brought in a subwoofer despite only very recently getting rid of one!
It's the Yamaha NS SW200, it sounds good and just sits in the background mainly, but you know it's there.
Plus the most important thing is it is white , so the WAF is fairly high!
