cd transport problem

HI. Have a Meridian 500cd transport, that will play disc but will refuse to play discs, with playing with the up and down button it will play eventually. Can this be fixed, or is the 500 to old for repair. I would be pleased to hear your views. thamks

It can probably be fixed but it's diagnosing the cause of the fault is the problem and that takes time and so costs money.

As long as the issue isn't some IC that is no longer made. Seems like the problem isn't the laser or transport.

Open it up and see if anything is obviously gone bad. If it uses a belt replace that, if you can find one.
