Now that is scary! I never used to be too worried about heights but nowadays I get wobbly knees if I wear two pairs of socks!

Ace, I thought i was the only one too... Do you like roller coasters? I can't stand them as I get that same feeling in my bum.... Sounds odd? I can't go on even the most basic roller coaster.. I even somtimes get it on swings

Jeez. I hate heights. I used to be OK on terra firma, but now even cliffs and steep hillsides make me spin!
I hate heights and found it stomach churning ending up with my knees aching, i hate ladders but we recently went to thorpe park and went on all the major rides with my youngest lad for his 14th Bday, got in the front seat on saw, big buzz and big smile on my face but shit myself whilst on them.:mental:
some are so quick you don't get chance to think to much,
I never used to be concerned by heights but with increasing age I have found myself becoming more and more vertiginous. In fact it's now so bad, that I have to divert my gaze if such scenes appear on TV, even though I'm quite safe in my comfy chair! Ironically, I was a qualified climber, for work and had a certificate to prove it.
Ace, I thought i was the only one too... Do you like roller coasters? I can't stand them as I get that same feeling in my bum.... Sounds odd? I can't go on even the most basic roller coaster.. I even somtimes get it on swings
Wouldn't say that I liked rollercoasters but I'm one of those obstinate buggers that wont be beaten by anything so I'll ride a rollercoaster for the sake of it.
Used to get it a lot when I was in the building trade and up on the scaffolding a lot of the time, usually in my palms and the soles of my feet while I was climbing up and down.
Once while re roofing a three story cottage in Wensleydale it came on really bad and I felt that uncomfortable I jumped off the scaffolding onto the roof, about ten seconds later the scaffolding collapsed with the weight of the sandstone roof tiles, I'd have been a squidgy mess if I'd stayed on it.
The lads used to laugh at me when I said I got that feeling "Ey up, Marts shittin his pants, he's scrapin his feet about again." but I reckon it save my arse that day.

I have peered down from Taipei 101. But that has concrete floors and a rather plush lift. :)

How odd, I wonder how you knew ... It must be an instinct that feeling... Even observing somthing on tele triggers the instinct some how... But I guess in that situation your instincts went over drive, perhaps through sensing unusual vibrations or movement in the scaffold or something... Or maybe it just wasn't your time to go... ...

I was never bad with heights as i used to rig aerials, now though i'm certainly not keen at all. Must be an age thing :eyebrows: Rollercoasters though - bring em on :)

When I was in my early twenties I rather regret upsetting a lady I was sat next to on a plane - looking back it was a bit mean (and my girlfriend at the time was very annoyed with me) but I thought I was funny... Everyone was getting on board, and she was sat there looking very green and I asked her if she was ok, and she told me she was scared of flying. To which I responded "you don't need to be scared about flying. There's nothing bad about flying, flying won't hurt you. Now crashing, that's a different story. You should be very scared of crashing..." I think she asked to move seats.
Has anyone tried the glass floor at the top of the CN Tower in Toronto? It took all my willpower to step on that and I had a new-found respect for glass afterwards.

Yes, I've been up the CN Tower it's scary! The lift guy wanted me to step the the front of the lift for the best view: no chance! And the glass floor was a bit much for me... Porky American children were bouncing on it while I was there.
( no offence to our Anerican members: I'm not inferring that all American children are fat, but these sure were!)
Actually, there's also a glass floor in Blackpool tower.... But there the similarity ends...:)

I stood on it, but first I looked on in horror as my daughter danced on it (she was about 8 at the time).
The view from the top at night is just incredible.

I JUMPED on it, and nearly got thrown out... :lol: My (ex) wife wasn't impressed. (That's not why we split up though... ;))

You wouldn't have been laughing if you happened to have some sharp ceramic imbedded in you shoe :eyebrows:
Did you know that even a miniscule bit of broken up car spark plug ceramic will punch a hole through a car window if it catches it at the right angle just by tossing it? Goes through like a bullet & the whole window crazes over :eek:
As i say, not a good idea to jump on it :eyebrows:
What can I say, I was young, dumb, and full of... reckless abandon! I suspect now in my middle age I wouldn't even dare stand on it!

Aye, funny how things change over time :lol: I used to be up on roofs all the time rigging aerials when i was younger ;) Now i'm just glad that this plant that was growing out of my chimney died this year due to the hot weather & lack of rain early on in the year :eyebrows: I really didn't fancy going up ladders to cut the damn thing down :eek:

IIRC it's 280 feet to the canyon floor if you're stood in the middle.
If you've made it across (the damned thing swings alarmingly at the slightest provocation) to the other side the 10 mile hike around to get get back where you've started is mighty tempting.
I wonder how the scary Grand Canyon Skywalk is in comparison:eek:

You pay for the cable car but the bridge is free - I suspect because hardly anyone dares use it. We did, it was a hoot!

Aye, we've been here before.
The cable car up Grouse Mountain, overlooking Vancouver, is pretty steep too - it is most alarming when you drop after the first tower on the descent.

The Skyway cable car in the Blue Mountains near Sydney (which doesn't go anywhere - it takes you out to the middle, stops and brings you back again) is pretty amazing. You can look down through the floorboards to infinity.
