Speaker Stands on a budget

A while back I bought some Tannoy Mayfairs.
I'm really happy with their sound - in fact, this is the best my system has ever been, mainly because I love that Tannoy quality but also (I think) because most of the gear is from around the same era, so there's a bit of synergy there.
I don't know.
It could be utter BS but it's working.

Anyway. I'd been using them off the floor on some low steel stands. They were okay and did the job but yesterday, while browsing in Ikea in Hammersmith, I came across a product that could've been designed purely for mounting my speakers :

It's called the "KNARREVIK Bedside table" and it costs £12.
I bought two.
They're nice and firm with rubber feet and a good sized shelf for CDs or coffee table books or even LPs piled flatly if you're one of those weirdos.

They fit the Tannoys perfectly.
At a pinch, one table alone would do for a bedroom system.
Very good, very versatile and very, very cheap :eyebrows:

I’ve yet to come across one of these frames that’s even close to rigid. Maybe if you add a timber frame to the bottom of the legs, to form another rectangle?

I get what you're saying but they're less than twenty five quid for a pair.
There's 16 bolts on each frame and the steel is good and thick - it won't bend or flex and the rubber ends on the legs mean they don't move when placed on the floor.
I've got mine on slabs of stone and they work a treat.

You could even remove the foot-pads and screw in some spikes if you're using them on a wooden or carpeted floor.
That would probably double the price but they'd still be cheap as chips compared to most stands out there.

Or you could add a board - maybe a chopping board - and place it "inside" the frame for extra rigidity, or alternatively you could turn them upside down if your speakers would fit the dimensions.

Sorry, I replied without realising you’d already bought them! Look to be a bit of a bargain then. I haven’t got big speakers, but I must look at these this week……..

What I really like about them is the room underneath for books or maybe a small hanging plant or something.
Plus the cats can run around under the speakers rather than being tempted to climb up the cloth facias.
