On track one of an LP it works on both channels, part way through track 2, the LH channel drops in level.
I have never experienced this before, and it has caused much head scratching tonight.

I have swapped the cartridge out, and everything is fine.

maybe a poor connection?

The stylus is also no longer central, so I guess that the suspension has gone.
The coils still measure ok.

A sad day. I liked that cartridge.

I checked all of the connections. Redid them all etc. Same effect.
Plugged in an AT150mlx, and both channels are singing.

maybe a wire inside the cart then...

Yes, unfortunately.
I will have a fiddle tomorrow and see if refitting the cart changes anything.
It had a nice synergy with the BB3.

Just now the AT150mlx started doing the same.
It turns out it is my new JJ ECC83 that is playing up. Not impressed. Less than 200 hours on it…

False alarm. Loose connection on the RCA connector at the TT output.
Thanks Grant.

Hmm. Intermittently dodgy channel, malfunctioning electric gates, occasional hum issues... It's time to face facts Kevin, French electricity is rubbish :ner:

Yes, and we keep the best stuff here, and just send the crap abroad.

By the way, the gates work fine now, and it has been a long time since I heard the hum (except when the crash test dummies single is playing).

EDF own the nuclear plants, and SWEB. National Grid is a UK company but since it's a PLC it's mostly 'owned' by pension funds.

And ENEDIS own the network that gets the leccy to the coast of France.

And ENEDIS own the network that gets the leccy to the coast of France. Is ENEDIS a sort of privatised French equivalent of the UK National Grid? Seems to be still "owned" by EDF.

Yes, 100% owned by EDF.

And of course, EDF is state owned.

Back on topic - I did find a valve casualty. My Mazda Silver plate 13AX7S.

A sad day, but the problem with NOS valves. The flashed getter has turned white, so it is only fit for landfill now.
