Hi, I currently use the very well thought of Klotz MC5000 ic's, but like most folk, wonder if an improvement can be made ?
I currently use Chord Shawline X speaker cable, I mention that as a number of people believe that using the same brand of wire throughout the system is the way to go, I personally don't.

So, suggestions please, hopefully below £150, and I only need 0.5m.

Thanks in advance!

Like many here I used to use the Klotz MC5000 but a couple of years back I replaced all my interconnects with Sommer Cable Carbocab 225.

This cable was recommended on this site, and I can certainly confirm that it's a step up from the Klotz. Doesn't cost a fortune if you buy it off the reel and re-use the connectors from your Klotz. It is a little more fiddly to strip and solder, but not too bad.

Is the cable available terminated do you know?

Or, I've seen some ready terminated called The Spirit, but not sure if they are on par with what you recommend...?

I have a spare 0.6m pair of Ixos 100.X03 Studio interconnects with locking WBT phono/RCA plugs, in manufacturers pouch . These sound mighty fine :). Happy to sell for £55 (PayPal) including UK postage on a 'sale or return' basis. They won't be sent back, they sound great! I bought them new, cost around £150 as I recall.

Personally, I would look for an OCC copper cable, with decent plugs.
A secondhand "Spitfire" would do the job nicely, and is a big step up from the Carbocab.

Atlas make a range of truly excellent cables using high quality copper and well thought out geometry.

Buy cable with ptfe or teflon insulation , dont melt when soldering , ipl accoustics £11 a metre , Neotec is fairly well priced also nemoi 5220 fairly cheap and sounds great ,ive got rfc venus cables and its close in sound quality , tried the occ version of this cable and its not so good and cardas cable individualy insulated
hifi collective . teflon and ptfe is usually a good indicator of quality . phil.

Incidentally I have been able to try the Clearway ic, was supposed to be the X variant but it wasn't!

Klotz was far superior!

I'm wondering if that would have been the case had it been the X...?

I've been using the same Atlas Equator interconnects for ten years now. Weren't expensive and nowt wrong with them. Don't feel the need to change.

I do believe that I will stick with the Klotz, as has been suggested, thanks!

Mike.

I’m using Klotz AC110 interconnects with Klotz 2YLL speaker cables in an efficient system using Closer OGY full range speakers, both giving excellent results. I’m trying a few different pro cables as rca interconnects. The Klotz AC110 bettered the Sommer Classique. A number of other pro cables are on my list to try including the Klotz MC5000’s, so I was interested in your thoughts on this.

Btw the Klotz 2YLL was suggested by Closer, who’s speakers I represent in the UK. £15 3 m pair replaces a considerably more expensive set of cables, giving a better balance with greater openness and detail.
