Is this the worst Summer ever ? Can only recall 4 very nice days in June and from then it's been cloudy and cool.
Today it's around 18c in the watery Sun, damp and thick grey cloud.

on the upsides we didn't get fires etc so maybe not a bad swap
Reached 22C, but with dirty black clouds threatening to rain (it didn't), the humidity was high - so felt pretty 'muggy', sticky and uncomfortable.
bit warmer today, no sun but no wind either.
Next week still looking good, highs of 24C and sunny. Might make up for August. I've got the week off too.

Dull here, very heavy uniform cloud cover, and chilly. Consulting the Met Office website it shows the weather in my area as sunny and 16C.
I actually think their hit rate between dull and sunny is less than 50% - in other words their predictions would be more accurate if they just tossed a coin - as opposed to feeding masses of data into their billion quid super computer.
But AI will take over the world? Yeah right. It won't even know if it needs to carry an umbrella.
reached 20c today. occasional sunshine. next week is to be similar to today averaging 22c

Few people have told me I should get one to get to work on but walking there and back is the only exercise I get. Plus I've got no-where to store it.

You can get compact folding ones that take up little room.
I calculate mine will do around 20 miles per charge. I've done a few miles and the 'juice' level still shows full. I'll top it up later.

We always enjoy it. I reckon you would too, you don't have to be into bikes. I would say the average (Mean? Median?) age would be about 50, with as many over that age as under it.
I overdid things on Friday night, and felt like shit for much of Saturday. But nothing a day with the sun on my face and a pub lunch couldn't fix.
Apart from Toyah, all the other bands were ones that probably no one but their local following would have heard of. Lot of 'characters' there, though some bird the wrong side of 15 stone who decided to go topless and block my view of the Ska band is a memory I could do without.
This is about the tenth time we've been in the last 20 years, and already looking forward to next year.

Bright sunshine again here. Probably the best day yet here yesterday, all the neighbours were out on the front having a chat, not usually possible due to the constant rain and high winds.
Now 19C and sunny with a clear blue sky. :)

27C here, that's just too warm for me. I made an early start (7am) and got the hard stuff done by lunchtime. By 2pm even standing unsupported was getting too much. Early start, early dart, that's the way to do it.
Got home to find Mrs. P busy weeding and sweating like a good 'un. I feel a bit guilty sitting here playing Guns 'n' Roses but she seems happy about it so...
reached 22c here and still at that mark afaik. sitting with a cooling pair of fans around me lol

Bloody hot and it's the first day since June when it feels warm indoors.

Actually rained a bit this morning in Chorley, which must have come from a long way south - when I got home the car (which Anita paid a tenner to the Romanians to clean yesterday :doh:) looked like Lawrence of Arabia's runabout - serves me right for getting a black one.

Good enough to see what it is. I think British birds of prey are on the up, which has to be a good sign.

yes there are now 46 golden eagle birds in south of scotland now... a good number are paired too

Badass birds...Scottish rabbits will be cacking themselves. Never seen one in real life, I doubt they'll make it this far south, Lake District maybe.

See those too and the occasional Buzzard. Quite a few green Parakeets about as well.

Yeah we get buzzards wheeling around Rivington Pike pretty much daily. No parakeets though, they probably prefer the weather darn sarf.

Was very warm and humid with no air movement last night, so having a window open was useless and just allowed in the mosquitos and daddy long legs. So I slept with a 16" fan about a metre from me. Much more comfortable, despite the noise. I must have slept more soundly because I woke up at 6.30 still wearing my reading glasses :)
Had 3 fans on, when on bed lol.. Was 26c upstairs doh

27C here, it's quite punishing in the direct sun but otherwise fine.
Forecast says Indian summer now extending to Monday, albeit a little cooler; but Tuesday temperature drops off a cliff. Plus rain.

Me too, for a minute I thought your brains might have got fried a little bit :ner: A couple of weeks and we'll be complaining it's too cold - in the meantime we have this short transition period where we don't need the heating on, but can still be comfortable at night.
Been trying to rain here all day, and is finally succeeding.

Looks as though it was pretty rough to the west overnight, serious flooding in Swindon which isn't really that far away. Goodness knows what it's been like in Cornwall where some of my family are, no doubt my brother will tell me. It's been bad there in the past.

Depressing start to the day - murky - a bit damp feeling. However now has brightened up quite a bit and it's not raining, though temperatures will stay fairly low - going - perhaps - up to 16 degrees C.
Torrential rain all morning, at some points it reached biblical levels.
Died off around lunch, checked the forecast to see if more was due and it was showing <5% chance of it raining again today.
Needless to say it started raining again about an hour later.

Glad it's dry today. Got the pooch walked and the weekly Tesco run done without getting rained on.

Obviously my North Face windcheater is only water resistant and not waterproof as I thought. :doh:
Had to retire my North Face after 23 years service, one of the pockets has gone through.
Was expensive but given it's been worn almost every day for that time it worked out as good value.
Couldn't find another my size plus I don't think the modern ones are as good so I've switched to a Craghoppers. It is waterproof, I tested it.
I have a Peter Storm 'cagoule' which is water resistant, but like all breathable fabrics is not completely waterproof.
Is there any cagoule or anorak which is fully waterproof, yet is breathable and not sweaty to wear?

I still have my motorcycling one piece rain oversuit, no rain gets through that and it's sensibly vented, so no sweatiness. Not exactly everyday wear though :).

yes I could fix it, I have a needle and thread somewhere. But after 23 years it's a bit tatty all round. I mean it's been round the world, been slept in, been in all weathers and environments from snow covered mountains to baking hot desert. I think I got my money's worth. IIRC it was £175 in 1999.
I'm not chucking it though. I didn't know they had lifetime guarantee.
yes I could fix it, I have a needle and thread somewhere. But after 23 years it's a bit tatty all round. I mean it's been round the world, been slept in, been in all weathers and environments from snow covered mountains to baking hot desert. I think I got my money's worth. IIRC it was £175 in 1999.
I'm not chucking it though. I didn't know they had lifetime guarantee.

That looks pretty good, I could go for that. I see on the size info that S is for bust sizes 44"-46". I didn't realise you were that buxom :)
But really coats are wasted on me, if it's too cold or wet to go out without a jacket, I just stop in and moan about the crap weather.

No it's too cold for about 8 months a year. We were promised global warming but for some reason we're still waiting.
I always turn the air con off when I go to a warm country. I've not spent all that money and gone through the purgatory of airport and aeroplane to freeze my balls off just like I was at home. Problem is the cleaners always switch it back on while I'm out.
Mind you I don't tend to feel the heat unless it's also very humid. And I don't go places with high humidity (mostly they're either shitholes or too far away anyway).
Same reason I never read books on holiday, I can do that at home. Either I'm asleep or taking it all in. Otherwise what did I pay for?

I don't travel just to sit by the pool and drink beer.

You're retired though. Lot's of people just want to do as little as possible on holiday because it's a break from doing shedloads all the time.
I usually like a mix, couple of days doing anything worth doing and seeing owt worth seeing, and the rest just lounging about in the warm.
Even when I was working I would go on adventure holidays, packing as much as I could into each day. My travel was done as cheaply as possible, which would involve 'roughing it': sleeping on floors with a sleeping bag, using local transport (only very rarely did I hire a car) and eating where the local ate. My only luxury was to stay in a modest hotel on arrival and again at the end of my stay.
I would rest when I returned to work: my colleagues would leave me alone for the day.
not my idea of a holiday.... but if you enjoyed it then great. a sort of david attenborough hol:D
