Thanks they are on my radar but had heard that 15" drivers in a small Lancaster sized cabinet is not particularly good....

Yep, the Lancaster cabs are'nt ideal but they do still sound great. Making sure the switch gear and crossovers are all good of course.
It's a very nice pair though. Personally, I'd buy them, keep the drivers and sell the boxed cabs. You'd probably make a tidy profit too. There are so many Lancaster cabs which have been bashed about. They can be used for 12" drivers too with a simply made adapter.

Thanks i am watching them with great interest but suspect in there condition they will go for a tidy sum...
A pir of 12" golds in Lancaster Cabinets in a lesser condition went on ebay for just under 1.9k

12" MG's in Lancasters sound sweeter, so that could be the reason. But 15's in larger cabs such as mine wipe the floor. Scale, dynamics, everything. Prices, well... 12" are much more fitting to a home environment, whilst 15's need that bigger cab to give their full potential therefore not so living room friendly. These speakers are starting to become a thinner on the ground these days. An awful lot go east so, I can totally understand the prices. Amazing speakers.
The boxed ones are a rare sight these days.

Thanks Lawrence I am so impressed with my first pair of Tannoy BIG speakers, very easy to place & very listenable....effortless ...they look a million dollars as well....for such big speakers they are very delicate & perfect for low volumes....
