I’ve been waiting to buy the Duson for some years and now finally the wait is over .
Bought some other bits whilst I was there .

Not heard of the Duson

Duson took over audio analyse when they went or were going bankrupt, Duson made some upgrades to the amps then they went bankrupt too .

Some serious heatsinks on that amp, is it class A?

Yes mate, class A . Before Duson did some thermal upgrades the amps didn’t last long so they’re pretty rare , they did a huge power amp too with a matching pre .
The tiny micromega is also class A .

with sinks like that it must be. not heard of them either tbh..

I've heard the Duson name before, not familiar with the products though. Reminds me of Colin Wonfor designs. Looks interesting.

I’ve currently got it hooked up in the second system just in case , sounds very nice too .

The tiny micromega microamp is also class A , must be the smallest class A ever .

nothing about it I can find except it's rated at 25 watts into 4 ohms.

Here’s one of the places where I read class A , could be rumour of course but the heatsinks are pretty big compared to the amp itself.

It may not be biased far into Class A operation, that could explain the relatively modest size of the heatsinks for a 25 watt output.

or only first watt or 2 in A then AB

I think that's likely. Not that it matters.

I guess I might find out if it gets warm or not ?
To busy enjoying the Duson for now though.
And now our tv is playing up ! Just my bloody luck .

It's not pure class A.

A pure class A amplifier will double its output power with each halving of the load. Hence 25W into 8 Ohms and 50W into 4 Ohm, and so on only limited the current capability.

Not surprisingly, class A amplifiers run hot (the maximum theoretical efficiency is 50%, and most amps have a somewhat lower efficiency).

But whatever - Micromega have a good reputation in the world of audio.

That's one ugly-looking mother of an amplifier!

100W/channel, with the first 20W being class A.

Think the heat sinks have been enlarged somewhat as original design didn't stay cool enough. It certainly looks like it wants to TAKE OFF. [emoji23]

Yes - it follows the 'industrial brutalist' school of design. The grey colour enhances the brutalist look.

Me too.

Too much kit these days either reminds me of something that came off a display in the perfume department at Lewis' or is blander than a London Grammar album.

That's a man's amplifier.

Well it will but with only a 25mm gap either side , not enough according to the manual. Damn it .

That is a very satisfying outcome! It's one of the best feelings when you happen across of a piece of kit that just sounds "right". Well done mate, I hope it gives you many years of service. ;)

Had the micromega running for around 6 hours yesterday, it gets hot , hot like a class A amp !
I have emailed micromega asking for more info.

Yeah it would have looked so much nicer if the LEDs were red.
