Not exactly hifi, but my Mum's recently discovered music videos on Youtube and spends mucho time checking out (mainly Country) artists on her tablet. I took my tennis ball sized speaker down to listen to and she was very happy with the sound quality so I'm looking to get her one.
Anyone have experience or recommendations, please ?
She doesn't want anything heavy or large. I'd say the absolute biggest would be egg box sized, but the smaller the better as long as the sound quality is better than the tablet speaker. Budget around the £100 mark.
Thanks in advance.

£180 after discount but it is in another league. I use these with my 4k monitor and they are awesome. Fantastic value for money and no messing around with recharging! Somewhat bigger than you may have had in mind and clearly not portable, though easily movable.

Might I suggest an Amazon Echo, I have one and the sound is acceptable if you're not expecting stereo imaging.

It may also be useful for the many other voice command facilities, it's simple and easy to use once set up.

I've actually used it recently to access Radio Paradise streams that it sends via Bluetooth to a small soundbar, to allow a simple option, rather than the full LMS/main hifi listening.

I've been using a Tribit XSound (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Tribit-Portable-Waterproof-Microphone/dp/B07HFQYD1D) for a long time as my basic travel solution. I can highly recommend it.

I also have a Bayan Soundbook (https://www.robertdyas.co.uk/bayan-audio-sound-book-x3-wireless-speaker-silver) as my bedside speaker. Again very good.

Many thanks all, very grateful. We don't want to go over the £100 budget, and stereo imaging isn't of importance. My Mum just wants something a step or two up from the tablet speaker and I had no idea at all about what's out there. Looks like there's some great picks above.

Yep, it's a dinky little Soundcore that I've got. I'm interested to see what's a step or two up from that but for it's size it's pretty impressive.

Easy done, but you've blown the budget :)
I'm not sure mine cost more than £40 and my Mum's not a critical listener. Looks a nice bit of kit, though.

That would have been the speaker I would have recommended, I'm using a Flare by the same company, and what a great price, just buy it.
