Pondering a Clearaudio -> Pro-ject migration

Had a Clearaudio Emotion turntable for five years now - bought it used and have been very happy with it.

However, I'm now having my head turned by a few of Pro-Ject's offerings, especially the Xtension 10.

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions? I have looked at models further up the Clearaudio family tree, but I've read elsewhere that the motor in a few higher spec models, such as the Performance DC, can have issues.

Just my opinion, but if you like the Clearaudio, stick with it. I think they are at a higher level of quality to Pro-Ject.

It's nothing I'd rush into, mainly because of the quality of the Clearaudio - since I've had the 2M Bronze cart on it, it's improved yet again. I can't fault it sonically, the build is great and it looks the bomb.

OK, a different tack - if I were to upgrade, so to speak, where would you suggest I look? Budget (later in the year, I might add) will be in the sub-£2000 (more sub, the better, to be frank).

i thought pro-ject were on a par with rega, but maybe not.
i did consider a used xtension 9 , but i am currently enjoying a home demo of a P8, so may be sorted.

Phil the Pro-Ject Xtension10 will definitely be a step up form the Clearaudio, the Xtension10 received many awards a good reviews, it uses technology from other Pro-Ject high end TTs "The platter used on the Xtension 10 is similar to that found on the RPM 10 Carbon, and is directly taken from the larger Xtension 12."

I have had a Pro-Ject Signature 10 for 3 years, and it was the best buy I made for vinyl, I know I would need to spend two to three times more to get any improvement, and that would likely be minimal. If you can push the boat out or find an ex-demo consider a Signature 10.

Yes, Adrian, the Xtension 10 is the one model that turned my head.

I do like the Nottingham Analogue gear.

Rarely gets mentioned nowadays because they concentrate on export but they are amongst the best on the market and sensibly priced.
