Well, I was never conscripted in some fashion and bondage is long ended and I'm sure I'd remember if I'd signed a contract or agreement when I was born. As I didn't, I regard myself as a token member of society and its rules and conventions, so therefore pick and choose what I'll abide by (is that anarchy? :)).
In reality, you can't beat the system. But you can sure as hell kick some dents in it on your way through!

I think it's great people are being given the option to do it. What would rile me would be either everyone being forced to do it under pain of imprisonment like N Korea, or a bunch of republicans saying because they didn't want to do it nobody should be allowed to do it.

Emmm, methinks they've misread the public mood on the King somewhat. Who the hell is gonna recite this nonsense? A few old ladies and some saddo half wits. If you ask me, I should be King, and I'll ban everything I don't like, starting with bad cyclists, people walking beside me at the same speed for uncomfortably long periods, people who talk loudly on their mobile phones on the seafront, women who pull their pants up when I look at their arse just to let me know they don't want me to look, and anyone whose views I disagree with on social media, shall be shot. seems to me the problem with the republic thing is everyone gets to vote for head of state, so when you get some lunatic orange con-man or some dizzy old geezer in it looks bad on your country.
Whereas with a monarch its hereditary so no-one is to blame if they are rubbish/embarrassing/do a flit to Argentina with all the bunce.
One way round that would be to have being head of state as a lottery prize - 'It could be you!'. And you get to do it for six months or maybe a year then it's someone else's turn.
That way we don't get the moaning about 'unearned privilege' and it's no-one's fault if they're crap.

Allegiance to the Head of State is the way I see it. No problem for myself as I am a supporter of the Royal Family and do not like the idea of an elected Head of State as per the mess there is in the USA with the likes of Trump being able to get elected.

So if this is the case, I suspect he knows it will make a lot of people annoyed and potentially make the republican movement stronger.

Just switched on the TV, and glanced at the Coronation programme on the BBC. They're absolutely mental on the positive discrimination thing, obviously still trying to make amends for the 'shocking treatment of that race grifter at that Buckingham Palace shin dig last year. 1 white presenter , and 2 black presenters! And then more black guests! It's always black though, never Asians of any description! BLM has alot to answer for, this bullshit is so fake its pathetic
Queen Elisabeth lived a life of public service, I was sad when she passed.
She was a very likable soul , In my opinion the Monarchy died with her . Prince Charles just isn't a suitable replacement .
From what I can see, It's time the rest of the Royals get a job.

I've been avoiding this media non-news frenzy. It is of no relevance to me and has no impact on the everyday life of most.

It's a story that must get lots of viewers or they wouldn't run with it so some people must be interested.
I couldn't care less but then I don't watch or read the news anyway. It's not about anything relevant to me.
There's really only three types of news story -
1) something bad has happened, probably thousands of miles away to people you don't know and have never even met.
2) A celebrity or politician did something bad or wrong.
3) something you have no control over whatsoever is going to end up costing you money.
It's good for the Govt though, keeps them out of the news
