We’ve hired a skip this weekend to clear the garage and loft , I found 4 of these 10” woofers in the loft but I have no idea where I got them or what brand they are etc .
Seems a shame to skip them .

Peerless I'd say, circa 1970.

Closely related to these bigger ones: http://wem-owners.com/cabs/drivers/peerless-drivers/

Someone else said the same , might be good for making some Wilson puppies I’m thinking .

I had a couple of NOS pairs of the larger magnet version years ago, they were really good sounding units. At a guess, I'd think yours are intended for sealed box use due to the smaller magnets. I'm assuming those are the 8 inch driver, so something around 25L might suit.

I can’t remember how a driver size is measured, they’re 10” across from outside edge to outside edge.

That's the modern way of measuring everyone uses now. Really it should be from the inside of the surround to the centre. 8 inch driver becomes 6 inch - marketing no likee.

They do look like some I’ve seen in bang & Olufsen speakers.

They could well be from B&O speakers.

If you look inside the frame, are the cones vented with holes inside the dust cap?

But they have rubber surrounds? The 8'' Peerless on my B&O are foam surrounds.

could be alnico's

Yes I'm sure they are, vintage alnico drivers have a bit of a following.

I now remember how I have these , they came from some old Hacker speakers that I had ( 2 pairs ) , definitely Peerless , I think they were also used in some Dynatron speakers.
Probably not worth keeping ( 25w )

I put bags of power through mine on the end of a 200 watt amp.

my 10" alnicos are about 20w but are sensitive and get loud easy.

if you had 4 you could make 50 watt and 4 ohms, presuming they are currently 25w 8 ohm

andyrlb

Yes I have 4 , not sure if they’d be up to the job of Wilson puppies?

25watts is continuous power not maximum. It's more than enough for most situations. Puppy is 91dB sensitive so 25 watts continuous is going to be stupid loud - assuming your clones have similar sensitivity. What's the spec on the drivers?

I don't think they will be insensitive. Paper cone drivers don't tend to be.
