Hello,
A long time ago (but not in a Galaxy far away!), I bought a Garrard Zero 100.
I promptly stripped off all the auto and return mechanisms (I don't want all that stuff), and the poor spindle bearing.
I am in the process of making up a nice new spindle bearing for it on my lathe.
I want to replace the Tangential Tonearm because the bearings are shot and it is all loose and wobbly as heck.
I'm looking at the Project Genie S (at £75 new) or Carbon (at £115 new) arms.
But, if anyone has something better for sale at around the price of the Carbon arm I would be very much interested.

Many thanks, Mark.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230423/1fcd48a39ad5dce1cb8d6b158a742f6c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230423/4a3cc071feafbe412899cd688c4795f4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230423/9613fec2126278b4970d22becaae5eae.jpg

An interesting but odd project. I'm not quite sure why you are doing or wanting to do this, but I'm interested to see/hear how it goes. Please keep us up to date.

Because as Mark says: "I want to replace the Tangential Tonearm because the bearings are shot and it is all loose and wobbly as heck."

The last thing you want in a tonearm, and I suspect the arm is irrepairable.

I found the Zero 100 arm bearings had a sloppiness to them when the deck was new. Reviewers commented on this at the time.

I just think the Direct Drive heart of this TT, with all the auto gubbins taken away and with a better spindle bearing (which I'm manufacturing) should make for a really nice TT, in a good solid plinth...

I have a nice Japanese Jelco made arm which has nice smooth bearings and an SME type headshell fitting.

Available for £80.

What is the height please from the base of the mount to the centre of the bearing?
Thanks, Mark.

It is adjustable up and down. There is a base collar which the arm stem moves up and down in to adjust to required height.

I can take more photos in day light tomorrow if required.

So, from the base on the deck to the bottom of the arm tube is 40mm.

Hope this makes sense?

Yes, you might get 2mm less (38mm lowest point) depending on how you look at the tape measure!
