Anyone using a Soundbar?
Just heard the Bose 600 with and without a sub and its not bad but really needs a sub. The Sonos Beam2 was OK but not sure it is better than the Bose 600.
Any other recommendations?

Yes certainly the Bose puts out a quality sound but I think maybe better to stretch to the 600 + a sub rather than the 900?

good idea Grant. I think the sub is £400 and the Bose 600 is £500.
The Bose 900 is also £900 so not much in it in price and I have loads of room for a sub.

I use a Yamaha soundbase SRT1000 , a brilliant bit of kit .

Samsung sometimes do voucher deals on their ones, there will be vouchers in the summer giving up to £250 off, I nearly bought the Q930B a couple of months ago that would have cost around £470 many shops had it for sale at £720 reduced from just over £1000.
I suppose it all depends if they do more vouchers this year.

It's okay, bit of bloom in the bass but that sort of helps with telly sound anyway. Don't think they make that actual model anymore.
I wouldn't spend a lot of money on a soundbar, I prefer to hook up a proper amp and proper speakers. That also gives a second system for playing around with too.

Yes proper speakers and an amp maybe better. Got the speakers in fact I have 3 spare pairs so just need to pick up a cheap AV amp. Might be able to bodge up a 5.1 system?
not as tidy tho. much depends on usage but if digital tv then digital connections are best
The one bonus of a soundbar is that it is a complete mini system and is positioned to give you sound coming from the TV.

I used to have dolby pro-logic then went to dolby digital 5.1 then it became 4.1 then 2.1 and now it's 2.0 :)
I got bored of the surround sound. It was fun for a while with helicopter/explosion films but it wore off.
The whole thing needs rebuilding as I think the amp is on the blink and I keep putting it off as the rack is against the wall and making connections is a pain. But got to get into it tomorrow as just got the latest Virgin box so need to set that up.
I use optical connection out of the back of the telly and into a DAC. Replacement amp doesn't have a DAC in it but luckily I have a spare DAC lying about.
if you do got for that pick an amp with remote control as getting up to change the volume gets old real fast.
Oh and as Grant says it is a mess, I have two six way and and one four way mains blocks daisy chained so I can plug everything in.

An advantage to having AV amp and 3 or 5 channels is you can set the centre channel to suit. A good thing these days when every bugger on telly seems to mumble. I don't know if a soundbar can do that, but definitely not a stereo pair.
Went to listen to a few sound bars the other day and they are OK but really best with a sub as they can sound a bit tinny on their own. OK better than the TV speakers but only just. I have Dolby Atmos on the new TV and so I really should consider an Atmos soundbar to do this justice.

I don't know if a soundbar can do that, but definitely not a stereo pair.Mumbling can be a factor of modern soundtracking and I vaguely remember reading that (I think it was Amazon) were bringing out a ai system to lift speech in programming without lifting background noise from music etc.

That Cambridge I linked to doesn't sound tinny, quite the opposite. But it's pretty basic, no Atmos or owt.
the big yam i had was really pretty decent and i often preferred it for things like live concerts. big tho but you need the biggish speakers on the end to add heft. think it had a bass one at back too
