Hello everyone.
Having tried out most varieties of valve and solid state amps including NCores etc, I would like to give a vintage amplifier or receiver a try. Needs to be a monster over 100 watts preferably from the usual suspects Sansui, Pioneer, Marantz, Yamaha etc. WHY

I am looking for the a valve like sweet rich palpable sound with the hassle free power that comes with solid state. Something better than Class A. Aren’t we all?
A 15W Sansui vintage amp suggests that this could be feasible with vintage gear.

looks lovely! How does it sound and what sort of money is it worth?
can do you a Krell KSA100 Mk2. Dual mono, 100 watts per channel. Collection only though since it really is a monster. Stoke on Trent.

I have a Pioneer SA7800 late 70’s early 80’s sounds almost as good as my Primaluna Evo400 which surprised me immensely, you’re welcome to pop over and have a listen, I’m about 30 minutes away from you

I've seen and heard Mike's Pioneer amp - it's a belter, and really looks the vintage part. Mint casework too :)

Then again, if it doesn't have to be Japanese, Macca's Krell definitely could be termed 'monster' and is probably all the amp you would ever need.

I can wholeheartedly second that, Martin(Macca) put me onto Krell amps when I had been having similar issues, after changing a few amps over 2-3 years and became a bit confused and fed up.
I have a KSA-80 and it is superb, very neutral, a lovely open sound stage, and produces great detail, bass control is the best I have ever had. Since buying it I have chained to a better phon-stage and a SACD player and in each cases it just gave more proving the amp is great.
The KSA-100 is very good from what I have been told and read.
my car has a krell system in it, and very good it is too...
