Well I listen to pretty much all sorts of music ... Classical (among my favourites are Bach, Scarlatti Chopin, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky - with a strong bias for piano music since I am an amateur pianist), Jazz (Evans, Davis, Brubeck, Coltrane, Blakey and D.Krall among the favourites...) and a lot of Rock with a particular preference for Prog (Genesis, Pink Floyd, PFM, Camel, Dream Theater, Symphony X)

In terms of equipment I am pretty much at the beginning - in terms of quality equipment I only have headphones (AKG K142HD) which I pretty much only used so far for my digital piano (since I would need a headphone amplifier). The reason why I am starting to get interested in hi-fi now is that I just found my first full-time job and I finally have a (hopefully) stable accomodation.

For my first purchases I was looking at a Rega Ear and the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 (since I need something which I can easily connect to my Macbook and doesn't take up too much space).

Can actually someone tell me how good my headphones could be for listening to music from my computer through a headphone ampli ?. As said before, I only used them for my digital piano so far...

Nice taste in music.

Sorry I can't offer any advice on the hardware questions. Start a thread asking the questions in the area that best suits. Guidance to what goes where can be seen at the side of the named areas.
