Formed part of my first 'proper' system when I was a student. I auditioned them against a couple of similarly-priced alternatives - far too long ago to remember what, sorry - and found them to be by far my favourites. They were used for a couple of years before I moved on to bigger and better things, and have consequently been boxed up in the loft for most of the last 20 years.

I plugged them in today and was pleasantly surprised at how well they held up; what's upstream has improved significantly in the intervening years, but they certainly didn't disgrace themselves. Meaningful bass is naturally limited, but they seem to have been designed with a 'BBC bump' to give a pleasing simulacrum. And, of course, they image like a good mini monitor should. Easily achieved sane listening levels driven by my Aleph 3 - 30W and notably-low voltage gain - so I imagine they ought to play nicely with valves if that's your poison.

Condition is, I would say, very good for their age and reflects limited use; no evidence of fading of the veneer - cherry IIRC - and the only defect I can really find is a small mark and indention on the upper edge of one of the cabinets. You really have to look to see it, but mentioned in the interest of transparency. Best pictue I could get:

Stands are pretty much what you'd expect - I think Atacama still make them, or something very similar - 24" tall, plus adjustable carpet-piercing spikes. Without crawling all over them I can't exclude the possibility of there being a scratch or chip somewhere, but again I would say they are in very tidy condition:

Original plastic grilles included; have been a bit bent in storage:

Would be ideal for a starter/second/office system. I have the original packaging for both, although given the size/weight I suspect postage would probably be uneconomic. If you're intent on it, I could supply weights/dimensions and package them up for collection by the courier of your choice - just don't blame me when the potty-trained baboons throw them down the stairs! Far better would be collection from near Stowmarket, Suffolk. Happy to set them up for you to hear; tea and biscuits available!

£120 ONO. Payment by PayPal F&F, BT or cash on collection.
