Just for fun, if you could choose a single speaker to listen to mono recordings what would it be? I have electrostatic (Quad ESL 57) and horn (Tannoy Monitor GOLD 15"). Remember its for fun.
The Quad ESL57. for most music.

When you say horn for the Tannoy which cabinet is that? I think that would probably be my preference.

A 455 litre monster designed by Paul Coupe @ RFC!
Although I don't like horn-loaded speakers that much, I would have thought a Tannoy GRF might be appropriate.

Otherwise a single, very early version of the Quad electrostatic speaker (SN < 400, before the speaker's directivity was changed for stereo presentation).

Good choice Barry! I would imagine trying to find a SN<400 would be a very tall order. I'll post a picture later of what I'm using at the moment.
